22 pistol

I have a ruger Mk II 22/45 as well. Great little gun. As has been mentioned, takedown is a bit of a pain, but once you get the hang of it, no big deal, and plenty of youtube videos to help you out.

I have also heard that buckmark's are great. And even I think it is the S&W 22a, which is a pretty inexpensive gun.

Good luck, .22 pistols are a blast and cheap to boot.

I just had an ad in the mail from Cabela's. They had a EAA witness combo .45 auto with a .22 conversion slide for about $550.

What a great combination. A .45 for carry and ranch chores and a .22 for plinking.

I have a ruger 9mm and smith armory KD 40 cal semiauto pistols. Thinking about getting a 22 pistol. Mostly for target practice. Needs to be a semiauto. I have looked at ruger and browning target pistols but it doesn't have to be a target pistol. Any suggestions/recommedations would be helpful. No brand loyalty. I have heard cycling can be a problem with 22 pistols?

Have Walther P22 for 4 years. Zero problems so far. Use good quality long-rifle hollow point ammo. It's accurate but barrel may be too short to be classified as a serious long range target pistol. On the other hand it's just the right size to be carried/concealed (assuming your state permits that?) for self defense.

I know you said you had to have a semi-auto .22.

But I would give a serious look at the Ruger Single-Six .22 Revolver (with .22 magnum cylinder). I have five of these and they are excellent shooters with the 6 1/2" barrels.

I have one mounted on every tractor I own for taking out varmints while working in the woods.

They will shoot as accurate as any handgun you can possibly find.

I got my first one over 40 years ago and it still shoots like mad.

Also, you can shoot virtually every conceivable .22 round in it, BB, CB, Short, Long, Sub-Sonic, Long Rifle, Magnum, high or low velocity, etc.

They are also one of the safest of all handguns to operate.

I just got my 22a back from s/w there was a recall they had to replace my barrel and slide. I have to take it out to see how its working, but the design is nice and i would imagine if it works it will be a real nice pistol.

If i had to do it again, i would get a 1911 with the 22 conversion. that way your constantly using the same pistol and grip.

High Standard Victor here for SA but hard to come by and $$$. Also have a S&W K-22 6" revolver that I love, but OP asked about SA.

As others have expressed above, hard to go wrong with Ruger Mark.

I received a Cabelas flyer in mail yesterday and see a Walther P22 (3.4" barrel) in there for $299.99. No firsthand knowledge with P22, pic looks good, great name (and love my PPK).
