Our Walmart has had 22LR's on and off for the last year or so.... But they are usually not a full 40 grain bullet, and lots of times they are not plated.

well, my horde of tractors is one Kioti CUT, and one little JD lawn tractor.. is that hording?

I only have 1 tractor and 2 lawn mowers, but how many attachments can you have before is considered hording? I have 13 loader & 3 pt. combined and getting ready to add a turning plow. :cool2:

Back to topic. I have been finding 22LR fairly easily at big box sporting goods since last March but have best luck at private guns shops and not overly priced. 10 cents/round for CCI and 6 - 7 cents for Winchester bulk boxes.

My recent experience has been that I can find .22 at most gun stores, and the price is usually $5/50 for the lower end stuff and $10/50 for the higher end. Sometimes, they are out of the $5/50, but it usually surfaces in a week or two.

I think what most of us miss/can't find are the bulk boxes and bricks for $15 to $20 range. I haven't seen those (at that price) in a store in forever. However, I've been able to get them from Academy (online) about once a month or once every two months. They have the 333 bulk box for $18 and the 500 round thunderbolts for $25, just have to be quick when they are in stock to get them order. They offer free shipping for orders over $25, and they limit you to one box per order, so I usually order an extra box of .223 or .308 or something to get to the minimum order.

I'm sure someday we will get back to .22s in Wal-Mart (regularly), but it may still be a while.

Good luck and take care.

I dislike the thought of paying 9 or 10 cents per round for .22s, but back in the 50s a penny per round was typical. Comparing the costs of other things then and now, today's .22 prices aren't far out of line.

Saw a thread somewhere else that said a couple of the major .22 ammo manufacturers were in the process of increasing their output. Things should start looking up in a few months.

I was at Wally world today, and saw no .22 of any kind. but quite a few .380 and other common pistol calibers. More .380 than I have seen in years. Not cheap mind you, anywhere from .35 to .40 cents per round, but plenty of it.

Local Wally World gets 22 shipments on a regular basis. Same 4 or 5 old guys are there waiting every morning and buy all they get They must do a lot of shooting.
