Noticed some issues with the cut quality on my 2305 so I deceided to go through the process of leveling the deck out.

Read the manual and it warns me 42 times not to allow the lift arms to touch the stops. Why are they there then? Anyhow, one arm was with in 1/8" of the stop when all the up and the other was 3/4" to 1" away from stop when lifted all the way up.

I thought it weird to have such a large difference. So I lifted the deck all the way and leveled it out side to side. When I was done the big difference in the lift arm gap was gone.....thought ok nice I got it. Then I lowered the deck, checked it for level, then realized it was about an inch off!?

Basically the deck doesn't stay level when going up and down. The dealer had the adjustment out of whack so the deck would be level in the lowered position.

Is there something out of alignment, could there be adjustment issues with the front bracket?

Thanks for your thoughts

Brian

I had a level issue when one of the "P" bolts that suspend those lift arms slipped off its upper hook and broke. Assuming you have a 62c deck check those adjust bolts and make sure they are attached and not broken. also check that front hangar to make sure it's square- I find that the nuts on one side occasionally works loose. It seems that way on my machine sometime that the level keeps changing on me the sneaky SOB, sometimes the deck just binds on the front hangar a little, try shaking the deck a little and see if it comes level. if it does dont' worry about it. Oh, and um, the reason those arms aren't supposed to touch the stops is that lift rod bends awful easy...

The p-bolts are attached and appear to be in good shape....that is what I was adjusting when I leveled out the deck.

The front hanger appears to be a little goofy. One of the adjustable rod ends protrudes about 1/4" more then the other side. This would put the hanger out of square with the tractor.

I think I will try to mess with the front hanger and see what I get.

I am not familiar with the 2305 lift mechanism, but I had the same issue with a 455. The lift arms are on a splined shaft, and the right and left were not indexed at the same point. Always made the deck lift crooked. Look at how the lift arms attach to the bar that goes from side to side. Make sure they are aligned with each other.
