240D Hood

I've been keeping a look out for a new hood. Mine is crinkled, bashed and missing headlights. I came across an ad for a YM2000 with a spare hood. I emailed the seller and he is willing to sell the hood seperately. Excellent condition with headlights. My question is willthe 240 and 2000 hoods interchange? Other than paint they look identical. And what would be a fair price to offer? Have no idea what tractor body parts go for. Definitely not a necessity, but would like to have the old girl looking respectable.

I found a flawless complete repainted one off a VN rebuilt customer return. They wanted $150 for it with lights and everything. I still haven't decided if I should have bought it.

If you need most of the lighting parts, you might pay near that much just for the lighting. The bulb/reflector/mount are each separate and relatively expensive parts.

Thanks California, that sounds like a fair offer to make. Not really in the budget right now but who knows when I'll come across another one in good condition again. Before I bought this tractor and was still shopping, I noticed a very high percentage of used machines with FEL's had messed up hoods. Hmmm.......wonder why ?

You may want to do some checking on that hood, there were 4 different part numbers on the YM240 hood. The parts book says some will interchange & some won't. The YM2000 may fit your YM240, but the part numbers are not even close.

California, I know some importers that would take a truck load at that price & description, most of the time they sell for 2-3 hundred dollars for the bare hood. I sold a bare hood that was crushed by another tractor to a large importer for $ 125.00, he was the one that made the offer.
