2660 top link problem

   / 2660 top link problem #11
Now might be a good time to consider a hydraulic top link. I've found that mine is a real work saver and allows precise adjustment of ground contact implements.

I was thinking the same thing but I doubt that AHNC has a spare (or even any) hydraulic remotes on the 2660 (??) Certainly an hydraulic top link is THE thing for doing any work with a box blade. As others said, stores like TSC carry 3rd party top links to fit this tractor (might have to grind a little off on connection width at the tractor end, not big deal.) That is the obvious solution. It is however intriguing as to what went wrong. It will cost you more to go to a machine shop and get them to re-thread the link (keeping in mind you have both forward and reverse threads.) But it might be worth a little something to get the origin of the problem diagnosed ! My first guess is it is bent. Second guess is cross threaded/turned hard after cross threaded...

Don't overlook the fact that the threads could have been stretched, changing the thread pitch.
