Pineridge and I had an offline discussion about the merits of extendable lower links versus Pat's easy change versus quick hitch. We were unable to finalize which is better so.......what's best?

1) extendable lower links
2) Pat's easy change
3) quick hitch
4) anyone have a combination of the above?

One of us thinks the extendables are better than the rest so we decided to let the TBN crew help us decide.

I'll vote for #5, since all of those still require getting off the tractor anyways, you might as well learn how to back up and put the pins in yourself. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I use extendable lower links on the B2910, and Pat's on the TC24.

I prefer the Pat's system. You don't need to leave the seat to connect the lower link arms. Still have to get off your rear end to connect the top link either way.

I would likely prefer a quick hitch even better under most circumstances, but obviously not with a PHD, and as I often use a PHD that leaves the QH units as "also rans" for my list of choices. The QH systems are pretty much worthless if all your implements are not built to their standard, and that was another issue that cause me to try Pat's system.

All I know is that, as a good Catholic, by switching to Pat's system I can go to confession far less often because I no longer swear at the top of my lungs when switching implements. The emergency room doctors no longer see my regular visits to have fingers mended from pinches by the implements. The local school principle no longer needs to ask my daughter "where did you learn to say that" and I no longer have to attend "anger management" counciling as mandated by the Child Welfare Dept. Generally, other than the tractor, the Pat's system was the best investment I've made in recent years.

I vote for #3 "IF" all your attachments are sized/modified to fit the quick hitch. I think John Deere has a great idea with its I-match concept.

I'm a #3, and happy. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On a rare occasion (rent tiller) I take it off to hook directly. Never had a 'terrible' problem with the straight 3pt, but am really impressed with the quickhitch imatch system. I won't look back or to the other systems, but don't begrudge anyone who has them either. Whatever is the most fun. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not having tried the Pats system - but having swapped implements around without a quick hitch type system I vote for #3. Since I don't have children my neighbors would get the benefit of a verbal barrage every time I tried swapping implements before I got the Speeco quick hitch. It also took quite a bit of time and usually had to involve a hammer. After the Speeco the worst thing I have to do is sometimes give a well placed kick to line something up.

I'll also go with a combination answer.

#1 for the things not QH compatible and
#3 for the implements that are.

My tiller, plow, cultivator and brush hog are not QH attachable so they get the “hands-on” approach.
The Woods box and scrape blades, boom pole and bale spear are QH compatible so they get the lazy man’s way.

As an aside, the QH is as much trouble to put on as anything else.

#5 also. No swearing nor sore back nor gashed knuckles (at least as far as connecting implements goes /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have 1, 3, & 4.
If I had to make a choice. 1 works best with the premium features of my B2910.
Having attachments on dollies help to make the all three easy to use.
