I saw some place a company makes a set up for a three stage pump to go on the power take off on a a tractor I don't remember the price but it was cheaper than a princes pump. It put out about 20 gpm on idle of your tractor so must have gears in there to speed up the rpm to around 2350 or so.

I run my tractor about 1600~2000 rpms, the cylinder isn't earth shattering in speed but it gets the job done well enough that I don't need an aux. pump. The 2720 didn't put out as much pump volume so it went a little slower. We had to crank the speed up on that one more. I'm a big fan of running my tractor under 2000 rpms, I think the fuel economy is much better and the noise is much less. Loud noise is a pain if you ask me.

Usually a two or three stage pump has wide gears for low pressure at high volume and narrow gears for high pressure at low volume. When running the system at low pressure such as retracting the cylinder all the pump sections are pumping the fluid. With relief valves on each pump section these sucessively drop out as the pressure rises returning to the tank. At the highest pressures only the narrowest set of gears is pumping at the lower flow rate. This can be accomplished at a set rpm, so no need to vary the pump speed, As with anything the design criteria needs to take into account the available input rpms, hp available and required pressure and flow rates.

I run my MF 1529 at idle it works faster than I can. Idle is about 800 rpm roughly I guess what ever the throttle is at idle. That's with a princes pump from ram splitter set for my tractor. I can split all week on one tank of fuel 8 gallon. My 20 ton electric use about $10.00 a week. The tractor about $30.00 dollars a week. my electric is in side for rain and snow. I take my tractor to the wood pile. To stock pile. My electric is set up with my wrapper and frames then to wrap the stack 30 bundles to ship out. Later

It takes me about a minute to hook up my splitter with the power beyond and quick hitch. Clean it up? Are you supposed to clean up attachments? :laughing:


Same here. I wouldn't have it any other way. Imatch and Power Beyond. Not the worlds fastest, but dirt simple and no second engine maintenance/fuel, etc.
