Never attach a 2 wheel trailer to a 3 ph drawbar unless you have some way to keep the trailer from rotating upwards if it somehow gets too much weight transfer behind its axle. Others pointed this out.

It's just a lever calculation. If your axle is say 2' behind the center of the tank and the hitch is 8' further front, then the drawbar weight will be 2 x 2500/(8 + 2) = 500 #. Hitch it to your drawbar (not on 3 ph, the one straight behind and below the tractor axle) if it can take this kind of weight. It probably can.

Fasten it to the ball guys - dont just set it on it. That way, even if it comes up it wont get away.

The one thing that is most important, I don't see. What tractor? How much does it weigh? Will pulling 2500 lbs of water in an unbaffled tank be safe going around a corner on a hill? If the tractor only weighs 2500 lbs, I wouldn't do it on a hill!

First, what does the sprayer's manual say about tongue weight? Once you determine that you can determine if the tractor can handle it.
Second, what tongue weight can your tractor handle? That will be in your manual. (Hint: it's 882 pounds maximum)

As far as making a phone call...don't you have breaks or a lunch break?

If all else fails, just fill the sprayer ½-¾ way.

Here's a link that may be of interest to you:

While you're reading your tractor manual, pay particular attention to the hazards of towing a heavy load.

yep, if you can control the amount of weight, that will work.

It's a Deere 3203, per the profile...

First off, thanks for all the feedback. I only have limited time to veiw these but it looks like a gold mine of info piling up in my absence. I'm going to go and try to get a photo of this rig quick. Looking at it today I realize I should have been saying all along it's more like a water buffalo than a sprayer. Also, I'm not sure what the term is for the hook-up but I do know it's not a ball. I should be sharing all this with you guys. I'll go try and get that pic. Thanks again for all the input.

Here goes. A pic of the whole unit and another of the hitch type. Note how far back the axle sits.

Lets see here, in the original post I see the words, trailer, substantial, weight, tongue weight and I assume you want to Tow this trailer, so to be safe I think you need to get at least an F350 Dually Power Stroke W/6 speed manual trans and that comes with trailer braking package installed. Some will probably argue that the Dodge will be a better choice since it comes with the Cummins and everyone knows that all real diesels are inline 6's. But then again there is the camp that will argue that you must get the GM because it is the only one that comes with the Allison Automatic and that's the only way to tow.
On second thought, if I were you, since scrap iron is back up, I'd just sell the thing for scrap and forget the whole thing, just too complicated.:)

Draw bars are meant for pullin'. 3pt are made for liftin'. Never confuse the two. If the drawbar can't pull it, then you are looking for a world of hurt pulling something around on bendy, wiggly loose lift arms. Mike

Yeah, that type hitch should fit a draw bar.
BTW, what did the previous owner use to tow this sprayer?
