300cx FEL bucket level indicator

Either way, the indicator should be standard equipment and included with the OP tractor.

I can't agree, as options should be purchased if/when needed. Including it just makes the product more expensive. They are not going to include it for nothing.

Maybe this is a modern day mindset that our big Gov't is trying hard to get us to give in to, so they get control of us sooner, and not later.

There is no free lunch. :D

I can see the bli being included on the better furnished models and not included on the barebones ones.

My 1988 JD650 came with one and so did my 08 JD2320. Both were listed as part of the FEL. But... as stated by beenthere, I can assure you that I paid for it. I must also say that some people buy equipment that does not include items and they have no idea the item exist and then they discover the missing item would in fact make their life a lot easier if they had the item, then they pay double for it. I guess it still all boils down to a good dealer.

Totally disagree with that. I can put the bucket level to the ground on any hill, grade, or crest. The indicator doesn't help you with squat for that. And the only reason I believe I'm any good at it is because I didn't have an indicator while I was learning to use the loader. Kind of like taking your driver's test with a stick shift.

I was talking about production work which is normally on fairly level ground, like loading a pile of whatever material onto a trailer, moving large quantities of material or snow removal etc. I don't want to wait till my bucket is on the ground to level it. As soon as I dump a bucket of material I stop at level when curling back and am ready for the next. Much more fluid motion than with out BLI.

If you know where to sop curling your bucket before it's on the ground then your using some type of indicator, if your that good that you can tell by looking at the linkage or cylinder rods etc that's great. But the BLI takes the guess work out and does what it's designed to do, which is save time and that equals better productivity.

I agree on hard slopes or other rough terrain it's not very useful, but I definitely use mine most days and wouldn't want to be without it.

JB.

Clearly you live on flat ground. I perform all of those tasks on a hill of various grades, up/down and side to side. And I have the bucket level for the next load just like you do. And I believe the bli would only have prolonged my learning curve under the circumstances.

Believe me, I really wanted the bli when I got the tractor. The parts price (~$85) made me think twice about spending the money more productively elsewhere first and by the time a few months had passed I realized I totally didn't need it at all. I think more people would find the same. Maybe not, YMMV of course.
