I have searched everywhere for some information and have not found anything. So I am looking for some help. I recently parked my tractor on the side yard on a slight hill without setting the parking brake. This was mainly because I was being chased by ground Yellow Jackets, so my judgment might have been a little off. While I was spraying myself off with the water hose one of the neighbors had come over due to the commotion and the tractor was rolling down the hill toward the pond. He pulled the handle on the parking brake to stop the tractor and got nothing. So he lowered the bucket and stoped the tractor. I am not sure if the brake broke or what caused it but before I started using the tractor that day it worked.
Now when I hit the peddle or pull the hand brake all the visible linkage works. It engages the diff lock as it should and turns the shaft that goes into the rear trans axle. But it does not stop at all it is not an adjustment setting as there is not resistance at all and before I would get stopping force from just a slight press of the peddle.
Does anyone know what is inside the transaxle housing that the brake shaft connects to and how hard it is to get to? Or is this a simple problem that I could be over looking the solution?
I am also looking for a suggestion on the Yellow Jackets because they have to go with the kids running around the pond.
