Engage park brake and move transmission range shift lever to a position other than N (neutral) before leaving machine unattended. Transmissions will not prevent machine motion without the park brake engaged.
The parking brake needs the transmission range to be in any position other than neutral to work...![]()
Is that a specific function of the John Deere models? The need to be in gear?
On all four of the tractors I have presently , the "parking brake" applies the wheel brakes and could care less if there was even a transmission in the tractor.
