You will also need the dimensions of the mower deck you are going to use, not just the cutting width.

Enjoyable post and CAD work Philip, only problem is it should be in metric. :D

Nevertheless, a fine example of applying ****-retentiveness constructively.

For what it's worth, my L3700 came from the dealer with rear wheels set at about 60" (R4 tires).

The L3700SU and a bx2660 is looking very tempting instead of a single Grand L3940.

I am in pretty much the same situation as I have a BX2660 and L5030 at one farm and a JD2305, MF375 and M8540 at another. At our other farm we have three Fords a Case 730 and several riding mowers.

Right now I have the L5030, 2305 and M8540 all together. For some, one machine will work, but I sure can't manage it. Occasionally we will even have a Bobcat Skid Loader and or mini excavator up there.

Owning 2 BXs and a L3700SU, I can tell you they are very, very different. I can take out small trees and roots with the L3700SU loader in a few loader attacks that take quite a bit of time with the backhoe on my BX24. The L370SU is one heck of a tractor for the price. I can pull back huge bushes/vine/roots by grabbing them with the loader and then pulling in reverse with the L3700SU loader that would take a few hours with the BX24 backhoe. Just my recent experience.

Well going through all of the things, the 3940 seems the best for the many and purposes. I seriously want the cab though if I get that one. Which may mean no little bx or G. Maybe just a cheapie 0 turn mower for around the house. Were I to go 3700 I could swing a bx24. Or l4400 and bx2660. But given the size it seems wiser to get the larger and run a cheapie into the ground, then get a lil bx later. With the 0%, the cab difference doesn't seem near as painful.:D

So presuming I've chosen the 3940. Next question is which options.

Bucket, light material (recommended), heavy duty, or 4 in 1? Round or square?
I was leaning towards the 4 in 1 because I have no other equipment and until I acquire some it may serve multiple purposes.

Quick attach I'm pretty set on, but pallet forks, get Kubota''s or just a generic? Kubota doesn't seem to have 48's for this.

Top n Tilt, cheaper to do upfront or add it when needed?

Remotes, 2 on rear, or save the $ and get the diverter kit? $1200 vs 545

Mid PTO $336, worth it, I might do a rotary broom later Or add it later?

If I go for the cab, the defrosters and wiper, very functional or just triple cheese?

Rear worklight, integrated nicely or just do my own? For that price I could get some real nice PIAA fog lights or low drain LED lamps.

Lastly the R4's is what I was presuming to use, but the land is pretty dry and flat, would the turf tires, still be long lasting?

Cab radio, is it pre-wired so I can put my own, or will I be running electric and speakers myself? If it's prewired and has speakers, I'll get my own (probably have one) if not, I'll just have it done with it.

Just for clarification, all farms are jointly owned with brothers as are some of the tractors and some of the tractors are over 50 years old.

As to the other issues:

1. Bucket: I have used/owned several different types and for my uses they all worked well, I am sure others can give you better, more specific advice.

2. QA: Definitely a must have.

3. TnT: I have used one and really liked it, but don't have one on any of my tractors. I find the hydraulic toplink to be all I really "need". You can get them at many locations, nit quite a few people go with CCM.

4. Remotes: It is going to depend on your needs, but all I have ever needed was two sets.

5. Mid PTO, you got me there.

6. Defrosters: I haven't found them to be missed though a would really be handy and would have gotten it if one was available.

7. Rear work lights: I like the ones that came on my tractors.

8. Tires: That is a debate that will never end. On a general utility tractor I prefer Insustrials, but if you take out working in mud or truly heavy pulling in soft, worked up soil there probably isn't going to be much difference in traction. As to durability, we have had really good results from turfs on our MF375.

9. Radio: Mine came pre wired.

Good luck shopping.
