Hi, I just recently moved off grid in the Adirondacks, I have a 1400 ft. stone, rocky driveway.
I am looking for a 3 pt rear snow blower for my John Deere 4700.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this type of driveway?

Thank you

Airbiscuit, nice video. That is first I've seen a pull behind blower.
I will check them out.
Are there any other companies that make them besides Meteor?

Meteor, Erskine, Quick Attach, Pronovost, Normand all make rear pull snowblowers as far as I know. They are a little spendy, but better than blowing i nreverse for 1400 feet. I have a 3pt rear push snowblower, but would love top have a rear pull.

Ignore all the above posts [ :) ] and buy an Erskine front mounted snowblower. It is powered by your rear PTO. You drive over top of it then lift/pin it in place using it's own hyd lift cylinder... then hook up the short drive shaft... Removal is just as simple... Most tractor dealers can get them for you if you don't want to deal directly with Erskine.

That is also a reasonable option. 1400' in reverse just isn't fun.

I clear close to 3/4 mile of trails.

I have pulled this inverted blower with a 2WD Nuffield and now a Kubota M7040.

Having the FEL in addition to the blower is very handy when you slip off the edge of a driveway or trail.

Having a blower connected to the loader seems like not the best option unless you are clearing parking lots.

Not trying to spend your money but you want the simplest snow caster with the fewest moving parts that will move a lot of snow quickly.
You should look at the Reist Industries pull behind single stage snow throwers. They are made in Canada and with the Canadian dollar being weak the American dollar goes further. The Reist single stage snowblowers have fewer mechanical parts with no open auger to push snow away from the snow thrower.
It also uses adjustable skid shoes and have the ability to change the speed of the snow thrower with a simple sprocket change that the owner can do with ease to increase the speed of the rotor to to throw snow.

The Riest rear mount single stage snow throwers are very easy to maintain as well. The 60 inch Riest 1000 series snow throwers are $4000.00 Canadian $3200.00 USD plus sales tax that is refunded to you at the border crossing.

Dave M7040, yeah thanks for the reminder. I really want to keep the FELL on.

1400 feet of driveway would not phase me one bit with a rear push blower. I blow most of a mile around the barn, to the shed, and the driveway every time it snows. Open station, rear push snowblower. I would much rather have a better quality snowblower rear push for the same money as a lesser front mount, and a pull type would be extremely difficult in the 8 foot drifts the driveway gets. Also I know I am not alone around here, there are many others who blow many drives with a rear push blower, but they all have cabs.

A thing of beauty and simplicity. The 1000 series would be better in that he has a low power mule though if its a JD hydro unit.

I use a Meteor SB68 rear mounted snowblower for 1/4 mile of steep crusher run topped driveway. I have mirrors on the cab so looking backwards isn't an issue anymore.

I've done a lot of research on rear mount blowers. I'd like to keep my loader attached (especially since my machine is from 1964, taking it off isn't "quick" by any means). I ended up with an old McKee Sno-lander 520. At least with a rear facing rear blower, I can easily blow snowbanks back, get right next to my mailbox without driving the machine in the state road, easily see how close I am to cars, etc... Each type has it's advantages and disadvantages. I don't like the pull type, especially since my machine is 2wd. Even with cast wheel weights, and loaded tires, no way it's getting through a 4' drift!

If I were the OP, I'd be looking at either front mount (without the loader), or rear facing rear mount. That's my two pennies.
