. But they are going to start framing the house and build the retaining walls for the garage. So there should be some activity between now and September.

Now I'm , I thought this was going to be a log home. Is the framing at basement level and the logs from there up? Rob, I have got to see your place sometime. Similar to what I want to do, but I don't have the nice views that you have.

Anytime you want to make the trip...let me know. I know we are not too far apart. You know they have that huge Ag Fair in Visalia each March. That might be a good time to kill 2 birds with one stone. Visalia is only about 40 miles down the road. The nice views are just pure luck. We looked at several properties but when we hiked around this one and saw those views, it sold us.

Yes, the framing is on the basement level and apparently on the inside walls ... at least that's what I think. See post #72 where I posted the elevation views. The perimeter walls of the home (above the basement) will have logs but the interior walls will not. They will be finished walls with sheet rock, I presume, and then coated with a texture ... like plaster or whatever they use. You know, like the bathroom and bedroom walls that separate the rooms inside.

So only the interior of the perimeter walls will have the log look to it.
The garage will also be framed but have a "log look" exterior, but they are not real logs like for the home itself.

What a sweet setup you'll have when all is said and done. Curios why the garage isn't twice as big as the house though ????

Rob, the wife says to take you up on your offer, so maybe after the shell is up, we can make the trip to check your place out. That will be really cool.

hahaha, that's right, but don't forget I am getting a 40' x 50' barn too.
So I'll have the garage AND barn for my stuff.
(PS, wife doesn't know that yet though )

mine has 16 foot walls and a second floor for storage, I wish I would have went 100 X 50 2 floors
if your garage is spoken for I see a lean-to or carport type of structure, I bought 2 18 X 20 metal car ports and they work great, I put stockade fence on 3 sides and lots more room

You can keep your eyes on this thread and pick the time to come up from what you see....to be sure there is enough of the home built to make it worthwhile.
BTW, my builder just finished a project down your way, so he works all over So Cal.
