I don`t think we should be discussing counter tops, that is Loretta's dept.

Rob, if Loretta is sweating the light fixtures, maybe you should try to help out on the counter tops. We did a job a few years ago and the wife was trying to make all the decisions and simple got overwhelmed. Husband finally told the general, "just get it done". Now this was on a 10+ $million home. I know that the wife sure was happier once that load was off her.;)

I get that all the time from clients. I start asking what they want and where they want it. At first, they are having fun with it, but it doesn't take long to overwhelm them. The next think I know, they don't know what they want and for me to decide for them.

Boy, are you guys ever right!
I wish I could do that but she insists on checking out herself. Then of course, it needs to be close to the budget and sometimes it's not. Then she has to start over if it's way out there. But girls will be girls.:)

Me, I got to choose the garage and barn doors. I asked the contractor to send me an email with a link to the doors that he quoted that fit the budget. He sent a list of only those doors and it took me 2 seconds to tell him which ones I wanted. Non of the doors were cheesy because he's used good suppliers. At the very beginning he noted that all his quotes were for "above average" items. He's done real well so far in providing quality, so I trust the manufacturers he chose are pretty good.

I got some photos of the railing going around the outside decks. They had just started on it.

A couple close ups of how they fit the railing and posts.

So the move in date is May, or June? :D
Hi Brian,
The log home should be done in June, but we may not move in until after that ... depends how much we get done on our city home getting it ready to sell. You know how moving can be, I'm sure. We can't wait to move up there permanently but we're not looking forward to the actual moving, if you know what I mean.:)

The pictures I took were on Friday and we left the following Tuesday evening. They got some of the sheet rock textured but I didn't get any pictures of it before we left. I wasn't going to share these since they are kind of boring, you know, they are like right in the middle of starting to trim out some places, but what the heck?
Here are a couple of how they covered up some of the plumbing to the second story. In a log home, it's not always possible to run everything inside the walls, so some is exposed and has to be covered up.

This is the master bath where the Kohler jacuzzi tub will go. The tub cut-out still needs to happen. We decided to have the log finish all around instead of all tile. The tile will go only on top where the tub sits flush with it and a short splash wall. The flat tiles surrounding the tub will have a slight overhang to the log sides and also a drain underneath for any spills. I thought that was clever thinking on their part so the wood below is not ruined.
You can also see how they cut and fit the drywall to the shape of the logs in the last photo.

Fantastic place you have there. The whole place is beautiful. I would never have thought about the dry wall gaps being required. You obviously have a real good builder working with you.I'm trying to pick what furniture to bring in june for my room there.Has to match the log theme you know. You remember the roommate deal, right?:) .
