Thought it's about time for an update.
Things are moving kind of slow now that they've started on details, trim and finishing touches, so I wanted to show progress from the last batch of photos.

These below are of the barn.
The big roll up doors have been installed now and the floor has been pressure washed and sealed. They are currently building the bathroom in it and doing the plumbing work. I still need to get a big sink for it now. They need to finish the electrical distribution and lighting inside, but we've already started to move boxes of "junk" into it for storage, now that it has doors.

They also sealed the floor in the garage too.
Oh and they got all the sheet rock textured in it. Next is paints and lights.

Loretta ordered custom made Alder wood cabinets. They just installed them and will clear coat them in natural...no stain at all. They are a beautiful wood when clear coated and get quite a bit of color to them, darker that what you see.

All the cabinet doors will have those automatic closures, where you can't slam the doors shut. This contraption works like a shock absorber and lets the door close slowly.
They are very cool!

Log homes have a lot of nooks and crannies in them because you can't hide the pluming inside the walls. So they do a lot of trim work covering it up. In that first picture below you can see how they do the trim to allow the logs to settle.

They got a lot done with the ceilings too. Most of it is completed with the tongue and groove boards now. Pretty soon they'll start installing the bath tubs and sinks and all that stuff too. The wood smell is awesome.

The entire landscape has changed once again, now that it's Spring time here.
Everything is green and there are natural flowers all over the property again. The views from the home are breath taking with all the new growth. The weather is just perfect too, with highs in the low 70's and nights around 50F.
This is our favorite time of year.

Only problem is the rattlesnakes our out too. The builder's crew killed 3 big ones already ... on those rocks right below the decks. Two four footers and one 5 footer. We have big snakes in all those rock outcroppings and really have to watch not getting bit. Climbing onto them always scares me because you could get hit in the face or hands. It's best to do a lot of stomping on those rocks since they feel the vibration and take off below them, but you still need to keep a sharp eye out for them.
Here's a picture they sent.

LOL yeah, you're right.
That metal building is what I refer to as my beloved barn, since I've got no other. I couldn't do what my neighbor over on the 10,000 acre ranch did. He bought a 100 year old barn and had it move to his ranch. It cost more than my log home to do that, so that's out of my league.
I was just over reading your thread a minute ago too! Earlier in this thread about my "barn", was how they reinforced the slab with rebar and poured it about 8" thick.

Rob,
Wow, 8 inches? I guess any thinner and it would crack and slide off down the hill during a earth shake. I'm thinking 5.5 inches with wire mesh and (thanks to Mikim PMing me) now perimeter beams and one beam making a cross "tee" in the center.
