The views are amazing Rob. If I were you, move in day couldn't come soon enough. What is the small 2 foot wall for in the second to last photo? plumbing vents to the roof?

Rob,

The attention to detail on the trim work is simply outstanding! You certainly chose a good contractor for your project.

The views are clearly outstanding, but I share your concern about the snakes. Perhaps you can thin them out after a while...

Rob,

Steph and I are really enjoying your updates. After being there and seeing it in person, we can totally relate to each step of the process. The trim work over the ajusting walls is very nice.

The snakes are scary, but we have our own issues here with poisonus snakes. I've been told that rattle snakes are here also, but that's one that we haven't come across yet.

It's nice to see your contractors know what to do when they come across a snake. I have a client who fired his last contractor because he killed a snake on his land and told him about it. He's a big snake lover, so the mistake was obvious. Don't go telling a snake lover that you killed a snake!!! hahaha

Rob,

Wow! Sealing the concrete floor in the barn and garage... Your builder really put in a lot of details and don't cut corners. Was that in the contract or something he does standard? I just found out that your builder will be building a log home for one of my neighbor just down the road from my land. Chris went to visit our land and met with us last weekend.

Brandi,
They were shooting for 6" thick but it turned out more than that. I will be using that building to run my business out of and I have heavy machining equipment that needs to be bolted to the floor.

Kent and Eddie,
Those guys are very good with their detail work. They trace out the logs and cut to fit.
I am very pleased with their work.

Tom,
Sealing the floors was an small added cost, but I think well worth it. All the sheetrock and texture in the garage was included though. One thing I really like about Meeker is he quoted top notch stuff so there was no quibbling about upgrades everywhere. You will do alright with him.

Good eye!
There's a funny story behind that wall.
Originally, that was supposed to be a closet wall going across that entire wall. We did not have a sectional view of that closet, only a top or plan view, so I missed it when viewing the drawings. But when they started to frame the closet, I told them to build a "real" closet that we could walk in. Those would've been good for the seven dwarves.:)

We left a short wall there and will put shelving behind it for books or whatever. They had already cut the logs for the sheetrock to fit in so we had to cover it up and left that wall there. It's like that in both upstairs rooms. The shelves won't be too bad once we get a sitting/reading are near it.

Rob,

Any chance the snakes will want to live in a log cabin instead of a rock crevice?

OMG, I hope not!
When we move up, we're planning to get several cats.
Our neighbor has about 5 of them and he told me some stories about how his cats have curbed the rattlesnake population at his place. They're not house cats, but he gives them food, water and shelter so they stick around. Keeps them safe from the coyotes and bobcats.

I wanted to share some photos of our Spring time at our South camp.
There is stuff growing all over the place! I'll have to mow pretty soon.

These are of Loretta telecommuting from our camp. Looks like she's working her butt off, huh? :D
Some other areas around the camp too.
It's still around 50F degrees at night, but in the 80's during the day now.

Rob, when are you going to start moving your machine shop up to 3r? With the shop almost done it looks like you could start anytime. The house looks to be coming along very nicely too.:p

Rob,

That tall grass makes it look like a totally different place. Of course, by looking at the roads, there's no doubt it's your land. Nobody has nicer roads then you do!!!!!
