One thing I didn't notice before is that the entire roof has little holes which are screened-off vents so it can breathe.
After looking around, I saw they are all around the home and garage too.

And speaking of screens, I saw they had all the window and door screens installed now. They will exchange the French door screens for ones that have the same brushed stainless steel hardware, since these ones have gold on them.
That last photo shows what it looks like from the inside. On this set overlooking the rear deck, (going left to right) the screen is on #2 and #3 doors. We found they hardly impact the view at all.
They are almost invisible from the inside.

This is the granite we chose for the kitchen counter tops. It is a lighter color with lots of character to it. We've had black counter tops before and wanted to try something different this time. It's not as dramatic or striking as a darker granite, but it's growing on us.

This is the granite we put in all the bathroom counter tops. It needs to be cleaned, but you can see it has a hint of green to it. I think it matches those green sinks pretty well, but I'm not so sure about the maroon ones? Maybe the light granite from the kitchen would have been better with those? Anyway, we got to use our colorful sinks.

A couple odds and ends photos of the carpet in all the bedrooms, the solar power controller which has been move inside the home, and our washer and dryer in place.

Also a view from the basement windows where Loretta's art studio will be, (the water heater is in a separate room) the AC condenser behind the garage, my huge Kama which I did all the dirt work for the home with ... including that last photo.
The tractor looks pretty big even next to the 40' x 50' barn!

This is how the hardwood flooring turned out everywhere else in the home. It is a Burmese Rosewood. The other photos are of the staircase going up and also down to the basement. The stairs up to the second story are logs and the ones going down to the basement are tongue and groove stained pine.

Finally as dusk rolls in, we relax a little on the veranda overlooking the valley below. Our lights and fans are powered by the solar energy system.
We didn't spend the night up there but went back to our trusty campground where several of our kids came to visit us. We ended up having a bar-b-que and relaxed afterwards playing the guitar and singing a couple songs. Pretty soon we won't be camping down there anymore, just the kids when they visit.
I'm going to miss those times, I'm sure.

So they added 3" wide handrails to pass inspection. I wish I had a photo of that.

I did see in one of your pictures that you had the extra handrails. I'm sure they'll come down in the future. I'd do it too.......:D

No reason to stop using the camp just because it's only a few minutes from home...

My ex & I used to spend weekends camping with the kids halfway between the house & the workshop. Lots of fun & no long drive to get there.

Sure looks nice Rob. You and Loretta should be proud. Hopefully Mark and I can come and take a look next year when we go to the Ag Expo.

Rob,
I've seen this post but avoided coming here because I knew it would be great post and a great project but with my very busy schedule the past months I'd never have time to get to the last page. I finally gave in but had to start at the end and go backward. Only time for eight pages tonight. One word comes to mind and stayed with me page after page, photo after photo.

SPLENDID!

Thanks guys for all the support and well wishes.:)
Now I can say WOW...the builder just called to let me know they passed final inspection today!!!
First try too.
There are still a few "little" things to wrap up, but after that we should be getting our certificate of occupancy. Heck, we are not ready to move yet either. I guess we can do the traveling between properties in reverse though? Stay up there for 5 days and come down South to work on the house for a couple days a week?
There's a lot of work at both places to get done.
