Brian,
That air card Loretta has is an AT&T card. It works great but is only for one computer at a time for now. If we could get it to work on a wireless router networked for the others, that would be the way to go.

We are looking at some kind of satellite service for tv and the other computers.

We don't get cell signals here, and there's no cable, so a fast connection is limited to satellite. If you want TV and internet it is two separate systems. I know WildBlue sells "combo" packages but I still think you may need two dishes. Satellite net is expensive, $80/month. Lucky I still need it for work for a few more years. I'd hate to go back to dial-up but may have to after full retirement.

We just have antenna TV but that may need to change when analog goes obsolete in Feb '09. Depends on what I can get from a converter box. Just got a call today that the box I want is now back ordered beyond my redemption card date so I'll need to research another unit. There was a recent posting on TNB; I'll go there first.

Rob,

Congratulations on passing your final inspection!!!!

Now the real stress begins. Where to put everything, what will you have to get rid of, and of course, the worse part, what will you need to buy???

Rob, I think you can get a router to work wiht that card. I did a quick Google search and found the below, may be a lot more out there:
875 AirCard and wireless router?? - PC Cards - Wireless Forums from AT&T

See if that line of thought leads you to where you want to go, may need a reseller with specific experience to make it work....

Rob,
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

I have not been able to get on line much lately but I am very happy for you and Loretta!!

Like Eddie said "where to put everything". We still don't have pictures on the walls. We placed the furniture and are waiting to make sure it is where we want it. and we want to make sure where we want pictures before we hang them. I would like to find a good hanging system where you did not have to put nails in the walls!! I worked to hard painting them to put hole in them:D .

Keep the pics coming just because you passed final...the work is just begining!!

Rob,
Congratulations to you and Loretta. I have just finished reading your thread. I a pretty speachless over home you have created it is great. The detail you put into the thread has made it a joy to read. We attended a Log Home show here in Charlotte earlier this year. They are beautiful and your setting is fantastic.
We hope to build on some land in Southern Va. mountains one of these years. We have not settled on a plan nor style. We would consider logs but not sure we want the maintenance, lazy I guess. However, viewing your home and its beauty sure could 'fling a craven' on a person.
Again Congratulations on a great place.

Guys, thank you for all!
We've been busy (still moving stuff) going back and forth. Loretta took some time off to start putting things in order in the new home. In the next couple weeks we'll be living there and only visiting down here 2 days a week.
I can't wait.
RavensRoost, thanks also for that information on the wireless router with the AT&T air card. Loretta is all over that one now. lol ... I need to keep in touch with you guys to post my crummy tractor projects.:D
