I am wanting to add a grapple for my loader. But I can't seem to find a control setup that looks like this use was considered. On Deere stuff, the options from JD include a 3rd scv with the control set to the right of the seat. Or a diverter, with it's switch in about the same spot.

To operate the third function, you'd take your hand off the sdtick to close the grapple. But if you need to shift the bucket or boom, you'd have to go back to the stick.

With the diverter, you get to operate the grapple using the stick, but once again you can't move the bucket without toggling back.

Some diverters put the switch on the stick, that is better, but not perfect.

Perfect is a 3rd scv control mounted directly to the joystick, allowing operation of all three spools simultaneously.

Can that be done?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are wanting? I installed a Fasse valve (diverter) with a momentary switch on my joystick. I only have to hold the button down to activate the grapple- my hand never leaves the joystick. Here is the thread- Diverter Valve- Momentary switch

Not sure if this is what you were asking, but maybe it will help someone /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The kit from WR Long does exactly that, it is electrically operated spool valve, NOT a diverter.

Ok- I am confused... I still don't see how you could do things simultaneously when you have to push a button to select one or the other?? How can one joystick control three functions?

Jason, We have diverters on our FEL's so you can only do one function at a time. I know quite well that you understand how they work...
The kit from WR Long actually taps into the PowerBeyond circuit. It is not a diverter, but a solenoid operated spool valve. You cannot "feather" the flow...it is ON or OFF, the switch is a momentary 3 position rocker. So you can theoretically operate lift, curl, and grapple at the same time.

Now the real question is do we have enough hydraulic flow (GPM) on our CUT's to actually operate 3 functions at once...I say no so I think the diverter is the better option for a FEL remote. And the plumbing is simpler also...

Does that help? Or should I explian it a different way?

BTW...Congrats on the new backhoe /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I am jealous...

I have never seen a commercially available joystick whose linkage controlled three spools. There may be some custom design out there but they are one of a kind for a specific application.

I have the WR Long electric/hydraulic kit for my grapple and its just a seperate single spool solenoid valve. It's not a diverter so you get a real third function with the flick of a rocker switch. Its MSRP is just a little over $500 but includes all hoses fittings and the handle.

Here's my Fasse setup, you cant use all the functions "simultaneously", but it works so well it seems like they do.

That is one nice setup you have there for the Fasse valve. And the joystick looks like it came right out of a F-18 Hornet. Cool /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

KennyD-

I do understand the difference between the diverter and a solenoid operated spool valve. I don't see, however how you could do three things at once with one joystick when to operate one valve a switch must be activated. I think I understand the differences in the setups, I just don't see how they would act different than our diverters?

Maybe I get it now!

I reread the info from Wrlong. Does the rocker switch actually operate a function without moving the joystick? If so, that would be the difference

BINGO!

Because it is a spool valve, with its own feed from the PB circuit. It is just electrically operated via a rocker switch rather than manually operated via a lever.

jdgreg,
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I have made my own root rake but want to attach the ATI grapple to it or build my own if it is to expensive. With this setup I could also run hoses to the rear and adjust the top link on the 3ph when not using the grapple. I see the wrlong setup is about $500 but I like the joystick better on the Fasse one. How much is the Fasse setup and do they have a website so I can find a dealer? Our local dealer just can't seem to get past JD parts. What kind of price are they getting for the ATI grapple?

I'm not jdgreg, but I can answer some of your questions.

Their website- Fasse

I think all John Deere dealers can get Fasse Valves.

Their website doesn't work completely, but they were very helpful to me on the phone.

My Fasse setup (see link to my thread in my earlier post) was the cheaper (bare bones) version of jdgreg's cool setup.

Hope this helps.

Thans!! The Long kit is exactly what I was thinking! The Fasse kit is a great idea for man applications, but the other is what I was looking for

So the Long setup adds a 6th function, as it hooks into POwer Beyond stilll leaving the onboard 3rd

Does anyone have the Long setup? It would be great to see how it sets up, especially the valve...

The Long setup uses a standard Hyvair model DO3S solenoid valve. Specifically a DO3S-2C-12D-35. It can usually be purchased at any Parker dealer. The valve and mounting plate are mounted to a custom bracket made by Long specifically to fit your tractor's loader frame.

You can read about the Hyvair valve and its specs HERE on starting page 3.

I'd take a picture of mine on my Kubota but my camera is not with me now.
