Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Here is my 10,000lb automotive lift. Before I had the concrete poured, I dug out two 2'x2' pad areas 8" deep where I thought the 2 post would be located at. The manual states 4" of concrete, but I thought more (8") is better.

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Another shot of the lift. The Kioti also came in handy setting the post up. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I must have been pretty close on the pads in the concrete. I drilled all holes 5" deep for the two post, but did not go through the concrete. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have already had 4 or 5 vehicles on it.

RedDog - I like your outside lighting fixtures! Could you ask your contractor friend as to the manufactuer and where he got them from. Also, an estimate of per fixture costs. I have the identical lights for the interior and I agree that they give a tremendous amount of light. I can readily obtain an exterior version of the indoor lights readily, but, as with you, I like the clean and sealed version of yours. Thanks - Clyde

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Based on the white lite, they look like metal halide units, are they running on 220V or 110V?

I think they're a great way to lite up a work area, better (but more expensive, and more expensive to run I think) than flourescents.

I'd love to have that much clean, concrete, dry, lighted workspace!

The light they produce is very white, which I like. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif My panel box was a freebie that my brother gave me. I was a little concerned on space for breakers, so they are on 110V.

I really do not know if they are more expensive or not. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'm sure if I change them to 220V, it would be cheaper.

Thank you.

I like the clean "commercial" look of them. I will ask him soon, probably next Nascar race, as he is a Ford fan and I'm Chevy. Makes for interesting conversation between us. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I still have some of the boxes laying around.

All my light fixtures were purchased at Loeb electric in Columbus, Ohio.

The one outside light was $154, and I still need to buy another one. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif The six interior lights were $740. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif So as you can see I have quite a bit $$$ in lights. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Thanks RedDog for the info you gleaned for me already. I will be watching this thread for updates. I like the prices you quoted albeit a little rich. That's not to imply you overpaid as I have no idea but for a light that should last a long time and the clean look, I shouldn't have to touch it again except maybe a bulb change.

Thanks - Clyde

Great looking barn Reddog. I hope to build one in the next few years and what I have planned is very similar to yours.

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn
