in my 180D; I got a good run down by the previous owner; he pointed out ....
... theres a shear pin in the drive shaft about 6" behind the front diff encased in a thichish rubber protective boot;
the shaer pins there to protect the front 4WD components; its a quick cheap thing to fix compared to the rest of the front diff components.
remove boot; pin is hollow pressure pin about 1/4" X 1.5"; drive it out with a punch and hammer in a new one ... hope its that easy. Let me know if that was it!
