5010 Gear (No Cab) Leaking Power Steering Fluid

This is a drawing of the Rear Port Power Steering Unit made by Sinjin. I think the unit we are looking at is the general size, but I'm not sure. I need to get some measurements. I found several websites that specialize in seals, O-rings and quad rings. I sent off the pictures you people posted and this drawing, along with a letter as to what we need. Hopefully, they will write back. They are companies from the USA. Maybe we can get lucky!

Good luck Masempine. I asked several reliable, Mahindra dealers and a TYM dealer for a seal kit. They all said it's not offered. I don't know why! Considering the cost of a new unit, these should be rebuildable. I remember someone telling me a seal kit was offered at one time, but it was discontinued. I never heard the reason why. Keep us posted!

Dirthauler, manual shows 2 shaft seals and a dust seal ring. Do you agree? Also the Bridgeport AL city mechanic says local oreillys can get seals if theres a number on them. Looks like one of the seals in the picture has some marking . Thanks for posting
I know the manual shows there to be two seals for the "inner" one but there's only one, maybe the original design had two and some where along the line they thought that this single seal was the "go to" thing, you know you got to cut cost some where! Maybe it's possible to replace this with a better set up, patent it and then license it to Mahindra/TYM & Sinjin!

See if you can find a local bearing and/or seal place. Have obtained many off sized seals by just bring it to the counter. If you can find an old timer at the counter you might even get a better seal

No luck with my dealer. He called Mahindra and could find no more info about our seals. They were unable to find a reason why service manual would say to replace seals and orings but not provide them as parts. Its not serviceable they were told. Ive started taking my PSU off. Nut was 15/16". Used my new 750 ft.lb. impact (overkill but fun) Cant find my steering wheel puller so will buy one tomorrow if weather permits.

When i pointed out 2 seals to the mahindra mechanic he thought they might be flipped so that one sealed one way and one the other. Maybe thats why they use a double lip seal. Dirthauler, have you got 3 of these or did Mahindra keep the first 2. The "-2" might have gone to a different design to solve the problem. I'll count mine. Its a 2012. When Raharden checks his we can compare.

AllDodge, I sent an email to a seal supply company in Indiana. They sell everything. Their engineering department wants the exact measurements of the seals, shaft and housing. They said they should have these in stock. They also would like to try to offer a different seal assembly than what was installed by the manufacturer in Korea, Sinjin Precision. They believe a better seal assembly would last longer and not leak. Also, seal material is very important. I have no idea what the manufacturer used, but it was probably a cheaper material.

I don't have a heated building I can get my 2555 in and it's supposed to be 0 degrees tomorrow in northern Illinois. I haven't removed the steering unit yet. With all the snow and cold, it's been put on the back burner. I did contact a seal supply company in Indiana. They are interested in helping. Please read what I wrote to AllDodge. As soon an I get my unit off and apart, I'll send them pictures and measurements. I may send them the unit so they can see if a different seal assembly is possible. It's worth a try. These things cost too much and from what others have said, even the new units leak in short time. It has to be a seal design issue.
