Best news yet. You're on the right track. We're looking at 33 degrees now in north AL. If I get mine off Ive got a garage with a work bench and vice. It would be great if the indianapolis guys had access to a unit. If mahinrdra is charging $900 they surely dont ask for the old "core" back to rebuild. They could rebuild it for $50 parts and labor and then sell again. Ha

I havent been able to get the steering wheel off. Ive read the threads on here. Sprayed pb blast . Built an angle iron rig to use with 2 prong puller and just bent angle iron. Waiting on a 3 prong puller from amazon. Thinking of using 3 ubolts to grab the steering wheel spokes. Im afraid im missing something

It's 14 degrees at noon today, here in northern Illinois. Heat wave! I'm going outdoors to clean off my driveway, again. I have a puller and I'll see if it works to remove the wheel. I will let you know later. Good luck! I want to get the steering unit out and apart, so I can send off measurements.

I played with the steering wheel today. No luck getting it off. My puller jaw ends need to be longer so I can get under the steering wheel and contact the spacer I made. The steering wheel doesn't have threaded holes in the base that normal steering wheel has, like what's on most cars and trucks. The plastic vinyl steering wheel covering prevents my puller jaws from contacting a metal surface under the wheel. I cut two large, 3/4" washers to use as spacers on the bottom of the wheel, but the jaws don't reach in enough to contact them. I'm thinking about drilling two 1/4" or 5/16" holes in the metal base of the wheel and tap them or just drill completely through for puller bolts and nuts. Does anyone have a good method of removing a steering wheel?

Im at the same place as RAHarden. I tried looping u-bolts around the steering wheel spokes and back up through the slots on my puller. Might have worked if all of the ubolts were 3/8". As it was they all bent and the SW didnt budge. I then tried threading the nut back on even with the top of the threads, using an old socjet filled with washers on top of the nut as a spacer and hitting that with a sledge hammer while pushing up with my knees. It may have moved up a quarter turn on the nut. Startrd out with 2 full turns as gap. Now its 1-3/4.. I was thinking about drilling and tapping holes, too, but rah is right. Just drill through and use a nut. Supposed to be 60 degrees here tomorrow. Ill try again with hammer then get out mu drill.

I think drilling the SW is the best way. With the plastic vinyl covering on the SW, it makes it difficult to use a jaw style puller. I found this on Youtube, Cub Cadet Mo.125 Steering Wheel Removal Tool Demonstration - YouTube. It's real close to what we need. The two large 3/4" washers I cut and installed under the SW would be necessary for this puller in order to keep the puller off the plastic. I have no idea where I could find a puller like this.

I couldnt find the adapter hub on line. I hate to pound on the shaft too much since were worried about shaft seals . Ive got electricity out to my tractor. There are already two holes underneath my SW hub. Maybe Mahindra put wheel together wrong. Too small for puller bolts though. Are you thinking two bolts or 3. My puller accomodates either configuration.

I didn't notice any holes on the bottom of the SW hub. I'll look again in the morning. I was thinking just two holes. I would think that should do it. Most car SW only have two places for bolts. As long as the both in line and centered.

Removing the steering wheel from an old tractor, International Cub Lo Boy 154 184 185 and Cadets - YouTube This would be easy to find, rent or buy.
