60\" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100?

As some of you know I am searching for a used 60" deck to use on my 4100. I found someone who has a 60" deck from a 770, and I was wonderng if anyone knew if that unit might be compatible with the 4100? My guess is no, but, I am not sure. Does anyone have any info on this topic?

Guru,

I didn't find any data in your profile on your lot conditions, but I'd never get a MMM again - at least for where I am living now. Any time I do any dirt work it gets in the way.

Let me ask you, why do you want a MMM?

Nuru,

Get the model number and call the JD dealer to see if it fits. Worst case is that you would have to buy the MMM linkage to mount the deck.

Buck; Slopes, tight turns, trees, ..etc. If I have to do dirt work, i will remove the MMM.

Terry, JD has indicated in the past that it may be a matter of spindle differences , different location of conections, ..etc. i will check into it though, as you are correct it mat not be that big of a deal to make it work.

Forestcreature,

Yes, I do move dirt with the MMM attached. Sometimes I'm cutting the lawn and the wife want soil here or there.

I've even box-scraped with the thing on.

JD offers a lock up device for the 4100 that holds the deck up against the frame, this allows use of the box blade without having to drop the deck as well. I recall it ran about $45

I purchased the 'device' to hold up the mm mower linkage when using the 3pt. It is nothing more that a couple of chains with an adjustment. The only reason to purchase the JD device is that there are a couple on nice mounts to attache the chains to. It attaches in the back of the tractor on part of the frame. A person could make something just as good at a lower price. I actually lost one of my chains and currently use a couple of turn-buckles.

buck, cool - just wanted to clarify if you were having an issue with the mower deck being in the way or what. i have done some mulch moving with the deck on, but always took it off for dirt moving [i am frequently up on a mound of dirt from basement excavations and i can see how that would be a big problem with a belly mower still on the thing].

one thing that does bother me is the linkage hanging that low when using the 3pt blade. [linkage for the belly mower that is].

has not caused any problems, but looks 'wrong' to me.
