But man, this thing is heavy duty! Hard to lift into position by yourself, I can see why they recommend you to keep it on the ground and use the loader to pick it up.

A 4x4 block works great to prop up the RR for easy pickup with the bucket.

D-rings were added to the top. No mods made to the bottom. The only modification done to the RR were 2 holes drilled and tapped, so it was not all that risky.

Agreed, no risk. Post a pic when you throw it on the bucket!

Nice mods! I fully understand the D-ring added on the top side strap mount. But why bother doing anything with the bottom side cable mount? It should be sitting free and clear under the bucket regardless of bucket size/width.

Pretty ambitious to be modifying the ratchet rake without the tractor present though! I would be test-fitting the **** out of any changes I made to it, but I'm not all that skilled at eyeball fabrication, either.

I snapped more pics of my own RR today, so figured why not share. Overall I am a little bummed about the fit of the 72" model on my 60" bucket. This is the strategy I settled on today for my test fit, but I'm not sold yet and will likely play around with it some more.

I chose to hang it off the driver's left side of the bucket, dunno why. But the offset of the RR brackets vs. my loader bucket width forces one mount to sit outside of the bucket (just barely). When you fit the strap hooks in the mounts, it forces the offset of the RR just a little further, if you want to keep the RR mounts all snugly grabbing the loader bucket.

Since it was in my truck bed I just lifted it myself vs. bending over to place it down on the ground first. I like the agressive look. The yellow almost matches my paint...

Ready to shred some dirt and annihilate some invasive bushes and saplings!

It's a 2001 model year 7305, for sure! Just picked her up yesterday, only 135 hours! Totally mint, and I am like a kid at christmas. My first tractor, man these things are fun. No wonder people here talk about "seat time" like it's a privilege.

I know this is mentioned in another couple of posts on Rachet rakes but I thought it was such a great deal that it deserved a new thread.
For some reason TSC is really trying to clear out their 72 inch rachet rakes.
The 359.00 tag was still on mine but it rings up 199.00. All other sizes are not on sale.

After calling several stores in the Fort Worth, Texas area, I located a 72" Ratchet Rake at the Weatherford, Texas store. I picked it up on Sat morning. The box with the attachments was kept inside the store so it was dry and intact. Thanks Bdavis for letting us know and thanks to all that replied with their findings. Oh yea, they have 1 more 72" RR in stock.

Here's how mine turned out after modifications by a neighbor/welder. One big tooth / two little teeth were removed from each end and the upper and lower brackets were moved inward by 4 inches. I have not attached it to the bucket yet as the FEL is removed for the winter but it appears to be a perfect fit for the 60 inch bucket. Perhaps a little paint, at least on the portions that will not contact the ground, and I will be the proud owner of a custom 64 inch RR.

Many thanks to the starter of this thread for the timely info about the TSC closeout. Thanks, too, to my neighbor Bob for providing the skilled labor:drink:

That seems like the ideal way to fix it for your bucket width. I think I have decided I am definitely going to chop mine short (one big tooth per side, like yours) but am not sure if I have the motivation to move the mounting points yet.

I just rain checked a 72" for $199.00 at the Marble Falls Store in Texas, let you know if it comes in.
Marble Falls store just called to tell me no rain checks, warehouse is out of stock and no new ones coming in. However they did a local store search for me and found that the Bastrop Tx store has 3 in stock. Found one at the Kerrville, Tx store that I got. Thanks everyone for the heads up.

If that store search was on their computer rather than physically calling and verifying on-hand stock, I would not trust it. I live near the Bastrop store and was under the impression that I had purchased their last 72" rake in stock a few weeks ago.:p

Hi all,

Just a heads-up. I was just at the TSC in Bangor, ME and they had one of the 72" RR's in stock. Since I have one of the original black one's from a couple of years ago I didn't need this one.

The usual story....was priced at $359, but I asked an associate to check and it is in their computer at $199.

Would be a great deal for someone..................
