I had two CC dealers tell me the same thing about the 7000's and backhoes. I didn't really pay much attention cause I'll never get a BH but I think one may have said something about some kind of a subframe mod that addressed this problem?? I should have listened more carefully. I was also warned about locking the clutch in the disengaged position when not in use. They can stick and can be seriously damaged/destroyed when the usual and sometimes futile attempts are made to break them loose.

The shop just called and said my flywheel needs turned. When not using the hoe around the house I remove the backhoe, so I am not sure it is not the bucket flexing the motor when i carry a load of dirt around the yard.

cubhater,

I thought about Abbeywoods the other day when I first read about your problems. You mentioned in a previous post, "I know of several problems wwith broken blocks because of this. Cub has a technical service bulletin out on this and a moddification." That was the first time I had heard about that particular problem. Was that just a bracket of some kind to support the middle of the tractor for that SB? Thanks for the info. I don't believe I'll ever have that much time on my tractor.

YOu purchased the unit in 1996. Used it for almost 10 years and you think the warranty is going to cover repairs?

Try to work out a deal with the servicing dealer.

Mr CubTech1. Honestly I expect nothing from cub but excuses. Are you a dealer tech or a factory tech. But honestly I expected more than 1000 hours out of two yes two diesel motors. You asked me what I expected, well it is more than I got. For me between the price of the tractor and backhoe and maintenance it cost me more than $30.00 per hour to operate this tractor. Somehow this does not seem like a great deal. Somehow I expected some dependability and reliability. All I have got is high priced parts. Alternator $695.00 which I didn't buy from cub, had it crossed over to mitsubishi and got a new not rebuilt for $100.00, Injectors $265.00 each, piston rings $70.00 per cylinder or $210.00 per set. Maybe these prices seem reasonable to you but not to me, And now we are getting close to 7 months in the shop, it has more shop hours than it does time running. Yes I did expect a little more than this. What is Cub's theory on reasonable hours to expect from a mitsu diesel. Maybe my expectations are way too high. As far as going back to the servicing dealer. The cub dealer I bought it from no longer sells or services cuts. The dealer that replaced the first motor is no longer in business. The dealer I bought the backhoe from sold his dealership a couple years ago

I also had a 7235 which broke at the engine flanges or ears. Tractor was 2 1/2 years old but no backhoe. Cub Cadet said sorry your warranty has expired. No mention of the modification. I fixed the tractor and got rid of it. good riddance.

Well, the factory warranty is only for so long. No manufacturer is going to cover a 10 year old unit with the amount of hours that you have. A lot of things go into consideration for out of warranty coverage. However it sounds like yours is beyond the limits. Just like anything else you buy, once the warranty is up.. service and repair is your responsibility. Besides, most of the issues that you have stem from the Mitsu engine, not Cub Cadet.

I agree that most of my issues are with mitsu, however I can"t but parts from mitsu, cub has seen to that as they have to add their mark-up to these. When i buy a mitsu part it is always wrapped in a mtd bag. I wish i Knew how to get in touch with mitsu. Everyone seems to think 1000 hours is a lot of hours. I also have a dodge pickup with a cummins diesel 210,000 miles and the only thing I have replaced is the water pump. That is why I bought a diesel. You haven't filled out your profile or told me if you are a factory rep, a dealer or what.

Gunny, I too thought 1000 hours was a lot and they should go many more than that but obviously yours didn't make it. I have been a little worried since I have had mine that the clutch just wasn't right. It works fine but...............it is adjusted all the way out and I can't change it. Maybe I ought to start convincing my wife I need an HST. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
On another note I had a Chevy 2.8L that I put 352,000 miles on it so if maintenance is kept up "and" the vehicle wasn't put together on a Monday, we should get many miles or hours out of them.

Well, would Dodge(manufacturer) warranty service after 10 years? I don't think so. No manufacturer would.

And Cub doesn't mark parts up. It's called Dealer Pricing. Of course you are going to get a different price calling Mitsu direct. The dealer has to pay his bills, pay for shipping, etc. Pricing is controlled by the DEALERS not Cub.

I dont know what else to say about your situation. Your unit is 10 years old.

I recommend that you sell your unit and purchase something else.

Who am I? I am a Technical Support Rep for Cub Cadet.
