As for your extension cord, Ummm............
Had to do something to get out there... The wire is sized right, just the connectors not quite to code. :D

I'd like to hear what Dave has to say, but I would think that somewhere between 2-6" from the tires would be a good distance.

I should add that the outriggers on a 47 backhoe (designed for the 4200) are one foot narrower than on the 8B. The 8B is the same outrigger width as a 48.

With the mounting pics shown here its 9.5" at the bottom of the drawbar, 11" at the bottom of the subframe, and 14" at the bottom of the backhoe. What do you think?

That looks good. Tightly coupled to the tractor, and good ground clearance.
Have you extended the outriggers in this mockup to be assured of good
range of motion?

What is the limiting clearance? You mentioned it was likely to be the
back end of the swing cyls when I asked on my 4300 thread. Do you
have a photo and measurement of the tightest area? You certainly have
to be careful if you plan to use chains. I am comfortable with 1" tire
clearance to new tires, but you will need at least another 1-2" if you are
going to use chains. Turfs will have awful traction in snow. How much
additional wheel radius do you think the chains add?

One more thing: you are going to bump your head on the ROPS. These
JDs need taller ROPS. Good thing I am short. :)

That swing chain is certainly different. Never seen that kind of a setup before....

Yeah, 2 cyls for chain swing. I don't think I have seen that on ANY other
hoe attachment. SINGLE 2-sided swing cyls with roller chain....that is
common on older hoes, but makers have gotten away from it, in preference
to dual cylinders with pin pivots.

The limiting clearance is actually the chains now. I pulled the PTO shield and was ready to cut the lower hoe steps but now that I need to leave room for chains, everything else will fit anyway. I really like turfs in the snow, btw. With the chains I'm unstoppable.

Ditto. I just fit between my ROPS lights.

Job looks like it's going great, Arrabil!!!!
Thanks Roy! You're gonna like the next set of pictures...

9.5" ground clearance. As good as I can do actually.

I guess the question "8B Backhoe On A 4200?" has been answered.... :D

The drawbar was in the neighbor's scrap pile and will become the top link. The kid likes his new toy.

Wow, you really are short. No trouble with hitting your head on the ROPS there.:laughing:

Nice build. Looks great.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The toplink is installed. It REALLY affects the stability in a good way.

You can see its mounted pretty straight.

And it clears my worst transition so thats perfect!

Ooh, the first hole! And some on-site glam shots.

It digs pretty good. Lots of power. The valve needs a rebuild. Some of the movements stick. Others cause the engine to bog. A couple work just fine. The stabilizers cause the relief valve to go off. Its a $279 kit to rebuild the control valve and the relief valve. I might have to spend the money on that and flush every hose too. At that point I might as well rebuild all the cylinders too. A project for a different summer.
