8FT VS 10 MX

2 feet above the ankles are the knees :cool2:

Maybe if you're 7' tall. I'm just under 6' and from the ankle to the center of my knee is about 16". 23" from the ground to the center on my knee. ;)

It sounds as if you will have plenty of power to use the MX-10 with the 5085 as long as you not cutting unusually tall or thick grass (5-6ft high) and don't want to drive 5-6 mph.

I use a 5075 with a MX-8, and I think its a great match. I have roughly 10 fewer hp at the pto than you. In fact, I think my 5075 would handle the MX-10 just fine in all but the toughest conditions.

You may also want to consider how many acres you are cutting. For example, you will not see a large reduction in cutting time if you are cutting 5 acres, but you will see a significant reduction if you are cutting 25+ acres.

I just sold my 8ft and bought a 15ft batwing, both LandPride purchased the Plainsman for 11,600. I have it set at 6in.cutting height and with 64pto HP i was running 4low at 4.2mph,without any problem. I also have a 12ft straight deck Woods brand shredder, good for level pastures only but the cut quality on all three are the same, all do a great job. Have you looked at the 12ft batwings also, they are alittle better $, I have also seen some of the lighter duty 15ft for around 9,000.

I am mowing about 50 acres... few obstacles and rolling hills. Takes me about 7 hours give or take to mow, but I am limited on time with the work schedule I have. So, if I can safe 1-2 hours that would be amazing to me. We have a baby coming so I can't really afford to drop $7,000 toward my trade in for a 15ft MX. I can afford the extra $2,000 on the MX10. What is funny is that at the time while purchasing I could have had the 10FT for the same price as the 8FT. :)

WHo talked you out of the 10? and what was their reason?

How do you justify the cost of mowing 50 acres? No horses, cattle, or something to graze that much area? Just curious.

I have no cattle, nor horses or any live stock for that matter. I talked myself out of getting the 10fter and wished I would have went with it from the start. I have 50 acres to mow so time is an issue, considering my work hours and time that I have available.

@beenthere - How do I justify mowing 50 acres of land? Well.... because it's mine ;) ... I had several hundred head of cattle at one time (not on this land) and sold out. I just don't have the time to work the cattle and to be honest, cattle makes a mess on the land from destroying the ponds to other things. I love the look of having open land that is green as a golf course and next year I plan to hay the fields or something.

Right now I am working hard to get the land in great condition and conditioned.

@trook - I almost went the the 75 just like yours. Super nice tractor. A friend of mine has the same one you have, the 5075E.
