8N 6v Generator rebuild?

I'd need to see a pic if it to see if it was a 53+ with 2 Integra brackets, or a late 8n with no brackets, or a from n with front bracket.

Neither matter, as circuit type is defined by how fields are connected, you can rebuild an A like a B... Just need the correct reg to match circuit type. If u have an A reg, wire the Genny as A

no brackets = late 8n

front bracket = front mount n

front and rear full barrel size = 53+

but if yours fits.. whatever it has for a bracket.. just wire it to match your reg.

heck.. could be a falcon gen or some other application on there... etc. who knows what someone bolted up 50 ys ago.

wow. to me, on my phone screen.. looks like a 53+ gen with front and rear brackets.. which aren't used.. and it is setting in a saddle mount for a late 8n.

is that correct?

that answers it then.. someone took whatever gen he had and put it into the late 8n band clamp bracket.

that gen body could even have been from a later diesel model, then rebuilt as 6v, as the later diesel were 12 and had cooling slots.

in any event. i'd rebuild it as A if you have an A reg..

Well alright then. I feel a little better now about this giving me the trouble it has. I really appreciate your help. :drink: I'll get it back together and on the tractor tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Hopefully I didn't screw up the regulator or anything else while working on it!
