The only thing is both wires were flipped on both ends of the line, and I don't see on the wiring diagram where this would be a problem as long as the wire on F at the genny went to F at the regulator, and ground went to ground.....I don't think I made any other changes when I switched these two wires, but it seems hard for me to understand how the system could care what color the wires are as long as they go where they Are supposed to. At any rate, I do have a much better understanding of the whole charging system now (I realize there isn't actually a little wizard tucked inside the regulator and generator). This is one of the reasons I like this old tractor. I can work on and fix this thing with just a handful of everyday tools and a little knowledge, and I'm learning from it. I now understand the intricacies of how carburetors, generators and voltage regulators, and distributors work, and hopefully I'll get time to work on the hydraulics soon. This website is definitely an awesome resource for learning!
