Geez you guys you make it sound like the john deere 4000 series was the worst tractor ever made! I wouldn't trade mine for a new one. Not that they wouldn't be a little better but the one I have is a total workhorse and has not let me down one time. I work the heck out of this thing and it just keeps going full bore. Yes they had a few things to work out in the beginning but they are not a bad machine at all. I started a thread awhile back on repairs and there were just as many repairs to other tractors as the 4000 series. They are a solid little tractor and the only reason that they are being given this bad name is because this kind of talk. Yes I know some of you had alot of problems with one but I've talked to owners of kubotas that have had alot of problems too. My one neighbor can't even give his kubota 4wd away because the front wheel drive keeps going out of it. All kubota will do for him is extend him warranty. My other neighbor traded his kubota off in about six months because the hydraulics kept overheating and kubota wouldn't do anything about it. I have another friend that had one and it was gutless and numerous other problems, 4610. He had it to the shop 23 times in a year. They fixed alot of the stuff but kubota wouldn't do anything about the power, even after the dealer said the power was not where it should be but they couldn't find the problem. He had to take them to court to have them buy it back. I'm not badmouthing kubota but they have their problems too. Yes they are sending out rebates to clear the lots of the leftovers. So what's wrong with that? Every car dealer and mfg. in the world does the same thing to clear out last years stock.
