I'm halfway tempted to go ahead and order.

they look nice inthe pics... torque tubes, piuerced frame, dual jack stands with 2x speed jack, 2 flip down spring assist ramps with a 3rd as an option for a couple hundred bucks ( fold up/lay flat ramps )

If you order one be sure to specify LT235/85r16 E rating tires. Some trailers still come with junk bias-ply tires.

Too bad you aren't up here Chris:

30' PJ GOOSENECK EQUIPMENT TRAILER

Other than being a tri-ax, seems like it would be a good fit for you.

That is one nice trailer.

I would not order one SG. I would make them get them in and call you. That way if you get there and its not up to snuff or just not what you want you are not out your deposit or committed to buy.

I was gonna say go ahead and order it. That way you could get exactly what you want. After reading a few more posts I'm not sure what else you would add except the third ramp.

I think I would just wait. You know what the price is on that one. This way you can keep your eye out, maybe a slightly used one will come along that's a better deal. You never know.

I had the same dilemma when looking for my 18' bumper pull I bought last year. The quality dealerships were always out of the model I wanted. Sure, they would custom order anything I wanted with about half the money down. I thought long and hard about it and decided to wait until I caught one on the lot. My fear was that although all their other trailers looked great, what if the one they delivered for me was the last one made on a Friday afternoon. I didn't want to be stuck buying one that I hadn't seen before. I'm glad I waited.

that's what I told the salesguy. I'm gonna come see it when it comes in. they were advertising that model everywhere.. on their site, ocala4sale, craigslist.. and then when i call about it.. the only one they had had been gone for months... why advertise it so hard if you cant sell it? In any case.. now maybee they will have some incentive to restock it.

If your expanding your radius to 6hrs does that put you near Alabama? BetterBuilt is over there. Nice heavy built trailer. Painted as good on bottom as top and nice cannon plug style wiring harness. However that PJ (if its any good in person) is a steel of a deal if its real. Thats got to be a 10-12K new trailer. Might be worth a drive.

It might be best if you decided on a quality manufacturer and had a trailer made to your order. I bought a Diamond C Fleetneck trailer ten years ago and had it custom built. Specified what I wanted and they built it. Checked it out when the frame was being welded together. Only change I would have made is to have built a 32' trailer instead of the 28' I had built. Also have 12,000# axles instead of the 10,000# axles usually found. The trailer has a GVWR of 24,000#'s.

custom would blow the price up so high for me I'll be stuck with a bumper pull.

that 32'er will work once they get it in stock and I look it over.. only need 28 min.. but 32 is nice.

I know what you mean about price. I considered getting a new trailer last fall. Priced out a 32' basically like the one I have and it was going to be over $11,000. Decided that I'll just have to make do with the one I have, maybe make an extra load with hay.

yep.. I'd like to pay for one of the 2 25'ers I found under 4k$.. but I'd really prefer the 32'er.. at almost 2x the price.

don't want to buy twice.. so.. going to probably have to take the plunge once they come back in stick.

but will keep looking for deals in the mean time waiting foe that one to come back in stock.

The biggest thing to remember about buying a used trailer is that it's like buying a used tractor...have to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along.

My 2 cents.

i drove out yesterday and looked at 3 used ones.. was quite disapointed.

looked at a used 32' tri axle . ramps were a lil beat.. deck was half wood, half plate scabbed on.. a look underneath showed they cut the wood and put on larger tires that would have had little clearance to the wood.. heck.. the tires only had about an inch apart. Actually out o fthe 6 tires on it.. 4 were the same, 2 were different.. hitch at the front was so beat you needed a hammer to operate the ball lock.. price was low.. like 3900$.. but man... a real beat trailer.

looked at a dual tandem 32' anderson that the dealer wanted 7K for.. and it was a 2005... no torque tube.. no pierced frame.. etc. heck.. that's 100$ more than the elite 32'er I want that has a peirced fram and torque tube.... go figure.

there's still a 96"x20+5' down the road in great shape ( used ) for 3900$ as well. awfully tempting.. but I'm hung on sizes.

in a 'perfect' world I'd like to get a traielr that will haul my 7610s and 15' batwing.. in practice.. it will likely not get hauled alot.. however.. a longer one would let me haul about 3 antiques nose to nose.. or 2 antiques with implements.. and / or 2 tractors spaced nicely for weight... vs a 25'er that will be limited to 2 machines max.. or 1 with implements spaced nicely.

then again.. maybee that's enough ... ho-hum.. decisions decisions..

Soundguy, not to open this can of worms, but will the trailer be registered as a farm trailer or do you have a CDL. I don't know what the laws in Florida are for farm use or if hauling to tractors to shows fall under farm use. Something to consider when buying a gooseneck with tandem 7k axles or tandem 10k axles.

no to farm plates and no to cdl.

seems to be no benefit to getting 'farm' tagged stuff here in florida. you are still stuck at the 26k max, plus to farm tag you have to get a class D license.. again.. no benefits at all.. only extra regs and costs.. can't imagine why anyone would do it except for maybee tax break of some sort..??

soundguy

I'll lust be using it for my personal use.. not for hire, etc.

I didn't realize Florida had a class "D" license. What is the purpose of it?
