Mark -- I was actually looking for a .243 when I stumbled across the 6.5. .223 was too small, and a .270's kick was a bit much for my delicate other half. But I liked the feel of the Ruger, and the shop gave me a great trade-in on my 10/22T. The kick is about the same as a .260, and it's LOUD! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The trigger is stiff, but so were those on military firearms I learned on. Still, I'm looking to reduce it to the 2 1/2# range in the near future.
The 336 is a fine piece! Not the most accurate (lever action), but that big hunk of lead is very effective! Unfortunately, while it's great in the brush, the .35 Rem has to be placed carefully lest you shatter bone and ruin a heck of a lot of meat. And being a New Englander, I detest waste!
