Well the surplus center is sending out another hose. Oddly enough they don't want the incorrect one back. Guess it can't hurt to have an extra lying around.
I put it back together having replaced all the other lines, but still using the original one that is missing. I installed fresh UTF ( napa premium heavy duty that meets m2c134 spec). It took some cycling but all the functions work. It is pretty noisy...kind of screechy...kind of a bypass noise. But it goes up and the bucket tilts. The fluid was immediately cloudy so it looks like another flush will be in order.

I can't get a good reading on my generator. Putting the meter accross the battery resultd in a constantly fluctuating reading. Won't register at the genny either. The meter works on my car battery...so i think it is good.

Lastly the 3point works but occalates when up. Fluid level looks ok.

Thoughts?

water in the oil will make it cloudy.

hit the drug store and buy a couple pints of 90% rubbing alcohol and dump it into the sump.. it will disolve the water and then when you work it, it will flash off easier.

tight pins make a screeching sound .. pretty common.

lift getting tho the top then bobbing is common of a small leak int he high pressure circuit, then leakdown, then circuit regen from the unload valve.

not a bad issue unless the hunting gets bad or it is not strong / fast enough due to leak volume.

skylarkguy, Great thread... Dollarbill had the lever correct.... Howard underdrive/tilling option... Designed for slow travel using a tiller... they won't take a hard pulling.... treat it nicely and it will last forever...
The three points do oscillate some.... mine did pretty bad.... found out it was the high pressure relief valve was leaking.... My hydraulics guy adjusted it and solved that problem....
About the carburetor.. Mine has 2 adjustment screws... one is idle and the other is high speed fuel mix.... Idle adj. is easy to adjust.... the high speed fuel mix, I adjusted using a non-contact thermometer to check the exhaust manifold temp... too lean and the temp goes up threatening to overheat the pistons etc. and burn valves ... I adjusted the high speed jet to attain an 850 deg F temp under a hard pull... Didn't know if that was correct but a lot better than the 1000 deg. it was running when I first tested it.... and the engine doesn't cycle after the key is turned off....
I don't remember seeing a picture of the front crank hydraulic pump install and reservoir... I have been thinking of adding that system to my NAA... If you could post a lot of pics of your tractor.... that would be cool....
My tractor has been gone through to the tune of $4000+.... that was 9 years ago.... been a beautiful machine since... I'm glad I had it "refurbished"... the pay back has been worth it... I have since put 900 hours on it and I figure less than $5/ hour is a very inexpensive tractor to operate....
Looking forward to the rest of your thread..... Sounds like, we both like "old stuff"..... Dave

Will do on the alcohol. I have a vague mind image of the reaction from long ago chemistry class.

What do you think on the odd power readings. Bad regulator? How would one test that?

I'll get a bunch of "after" pictures posted in the next couple days.

I always just remove a battery cable while the tractor is running if the generator is putting out power it should keep running. Now that said that is not the safest way to do it.

and it's very hard on the genny and regulator.

unloading them is NOT the correct way to test.

a VOM can be used to test.

jumpy readins are cause by cheap consumer grade meters ( digital ) that have slow sampling rates. A cheap analog is a much better choice over a cheap digital when troubleshooting anything with a genny using a comutator or an ignition using points.

I think the meter might be the problem. With the tractor off the battery is at 6.4 volts. Running i just can't get a reading....so it seems to be charging none the less.

Found out why the power steering is losing fluid. A cracked line that appears to be copper...that will have to go.

Thanks for the picts...something to aspire to.

Ill post some soon

i didn't intend to post them even.. they were meant for another thread and got popped over here accidentally. :)
