Well i have help... love my plasma cutter. Heres a youtube vid of the cutting of this piece. I just did it to see if i could video the cutting. Its so bright i didnt think it would work. Had a depth problem at the start, but fixed that and continued the cut.

Very impressive!!

So, why do you have a plasma cutter? Is it for you contracting work, or mostly home projects?

Both actually. I got it originally to do metal art stuff that the wife sells, and then moved into making connection brackets for log and timber homes. Now that building custom homes is nearly ZERO, im using it for mostly for projects.

I built my main gate with it, sign posts, things like that.

It really is a hoot to play with, though at times its a pain in the butt...those times when for no reason at all it just doesnt want to cut fully thru the metal.

Wow! That gate is very impressive!!

I assume it's CNC? What do you use to program it?

Im too crummy of an artist to do it by hand. I use either autocad or CoralDraw to do the artwork. My wife did most of the artwork for this gate. She did the basic design than i redrew it to add some internal strength areas to try and prevent sagging. Needless to say it weighed about 600# when finished.

The fence is vinyl, with plastic posts. So i took a 5x5 x 1/4" steel column and plasma cut 3 holes for the vinyl fence and had it powder coated white. Now the gate hangs from this post set 4' into the ground in tons of concrete

No sagging or dragging for this baby.

Wow! That is impressive! Well Roy, you must have some other projects in need of metal work for GRS to manufacture and video so we can enjoy the show, don't you? :)
