Backhoe Adding a New Kubota Factory Backhoe to a 2-Year-Old B2920

Regarding plumbing the hydraulics:

There is a kit available but I just bought the 2 fittings to attach to the tractor hydraulics then had hoses made locally. I also bought the disconnects. (From Kubota).

This provides connection to the backhoe but does not give you remotes. When the hoe is not connected you attach the two disconnects to complete the circuit.

Pretty simple.

I purchased and installed a Kubota subframe on my L3540. I found it on ebay - Messicks had it listed as old stock. It's not difficult at all, it just takes a little muscle - two people would be helpful. The kit was complete with all hardware & the hyr. hardware to create the loop that goes to the BH. I don't need the loop because I already had a 3pt hoe w/PTO pump that I'm converting to work with the subframe.

A word of caution if you go the ebay route - you'll have to do some good research to ensure an advertised subframe actually fits your tractor. I found one that my research showed that it fit my tractor, contacted Messicks to ask for confirmation that it would fit and they replied "No". I rolled the dice and purchased it thinking I would possibly have to fabricate some brackets to make it fit. I didn't have to change anything - it was an exact bolt-up fit. A good reference is to Google search for a "Whole Goods" catalog and it will provide you with all the options for your tractor along with order codes/product numbers. I have copies of the 2012 & 2013 B Series catalogs I found on line. It has the B2920. If you are interested I can send it your way. Send me a PM with your e-mail.

Update: I should have added that I have a 2011 L-series Whole Goods catalog also. It was a challenge to find the information I needed since Kubota made some changes on which BH's they offered and which tractors they fit.

There is a really nice looking backhoe unit for sale on Craig's list in the upstate NY areas. (Albany, etc.) The seller used it to dig 1 hole. It says it will fit all B models. You could have it shipped to your local dealer.

Woods B70x is a better design than factory unit... You can leave three point hitch on, and mount it in two minutes. If you're still looking, check out eBay.... There were a few sellers moving inventory at a good discount, even with delivery a much better deal than factory unit. As far as resale, no real difference, unless you talk to a dealer who will try to beat you up on your trade. Definitely get a sub frame, and installation is a few hours of work.

maximus1277,

I too feel the Woods units can be superior to some of the Kubota BH offerings, based upon research I've done (both specs-based and anecdotal stories).

But I was not aware that you could leave the 3PH on with ANY subframe-mounted BH. Would you know if that also applied to Wood's BH80-X "Groundbreaker" series, on the Kubota "B's."

And does what you said apply to the older, "Premium B's," like the B3030, or just the smaller, newer "B's"?

Thanks much!

I installed B70x on my B2320, and yes the three point arms stay on..... I then bought a B80X for my Kioti CK .... Same design and installation and again, the arms don't have to be removed. I would suggest you call a local woods dealer with questions specific to your machine, check out pricing and then see if you can do better on eBay. I recall that both times I bought woods backhoes on line, I saved 1000 -1500 bucks.

One more thing: B80x may be too big for your hydraulic system.... The woods dealer will tell you for sure.

I bought a new old stock woods BH-6000 with a new sub-frame for my Kubota B7510 and did all the installation myself. I would consider myself handy but certainly not a pro, it took me a full weekend just for the sub-frame. and then a couple of evenings for the hydraulic's with only a slight problem, one of the hoses supplied by woods was to short, I just had a new one made up locally, after letting woods know about the problem. Then a afternoon to attach the sub-frame part on the hoe itself. Overall, I am quite pleased with my set-up, it is not a mini X but can throw around my little 7510, if I am not careful. I might add a little extra weight to the front of the tractor this summer when I remount the hoe just to give me a better counter balance.
It's not as hard as it may appear and all the guys on Tractorbynet are here to help and ask questions of.
