prob safest bet is to pull each sending unit to check threads. on gc2400 oil is simple to get at on left side of engine, temp little more problematic as hoses in way.
I'd check temp sending unit/gauge connections for that temp issue and possibly ohm out temp sending unit to rule out sending unit fail. I don't have figures for ohms on that.

edit: keep in mind if you go aftermarket temp and need a different sending unit you have VERY little room to work with w/o interfering with top rad hose and the bypass hose.
