I am confused on what you are saying, you start out saying that many people don't receive the top brands because of price and then say people prefer to pay the price for the reasons you listed, what exactly are you trying to point out?

Also Esab has obsorbed the victor brand, so the once u.s. staple has moved and is now owned by an over seas company

I didn't say many people don't buy name brands because of price although that's a fact. I was saying the name brands are doing good because many people are willing to pay extra for them. Victor used to be a US staple but they have sourced out a lot of overseas and Mexican products. The sad thing is Esab and Victor's websites both leave a lot to be desired when you're trying find specific items. I find a lot of big companies have really poor websites. Trying to find simple consumable parts can be a nightmare. I don't think a lot of these places even try to navigate their own websites. They pay somebody all kinds of money to come up with a website that is as far from user friendly as possible.

Let me know how you like it!

I still have my MM252 and Cannox Sparkler; no TIG purchase yet as it really is a luxury at ANY price point... I do not need it just want it!

Sure thing. I'll take it to work first and get our top TIG man to check it out with company Argon. If he says its solid I'll buy my own bottle and start playing.

OK, the unit finally arrived today (UPS) exactly one month from date of order. They obviously were on back-order. Packed well, zero damage and it looks real solid, IMO. I have 40 years experience with an old 240 amp Lincoln AC stick welder and zero TIG experience. So tomorrow I will take it to the shop and let our TIG expert fire it up with argon. Just to verify a working unit I welded a busted Home Depot garden rake on the stick weld function. Wow! I'm not used to such a stable arc on very low amp settings. I like the on/off switch on the rear of the machine (like my Esab) and the components seem well made. In short, nothing about this rig looks or feels cheesy. The manual is pretty brief, but doesn't read like the usual Chinese translation. Its written as if the user is already familiar with IGBT TIG machines which I am not. Will update tomorrow.

Well my TIG expert says the AHP welds as clean and smooth as any machine he's ever used. He was very impressed with the unit and did several beads on various thicknesses of Aluminum and welded two pieces of "junk steel" to finalize the test. I'll be getting a large bottle of Argon this week.

I bought it on Amazon $719 + $30 shipping. Looks like they've gone up a little. I can see them going up quite a bit more if the reviews stay solid. Tried to upload some pics, if they don't work click the photobucket link:

Wish I could take credit for them, but the guy (Kenny) is an artist and that's no joke. Those are actually his first 5 beads using that machine and he ran them very quickly. Took him a couple of tries to get the AC freq where he liked it. The Miller he uses does all that automatically. 80hz was the sweet spot for that 1/8 alum.

I like to run the AC frequency at 250 on my Dynasty 300.
