Air Compressor

I bought this 1 BelAire 318VL 7.5-HP 80-Gallon Two-Stage Air Compressor 208-230V 1-Phase w/ Magnetic Starter several years ago to operate my large glass bead machine. It supplies all the air I need for this glass bead machine or sand blasting. When you need a lot of air. You need a compressor that can supply it. Running sanders will use up a good amount of air. Once you use up your tank supply your compressor needs to be able to keep the sander going or, you'll have to wait for your tank to fill again. You can't have too many CFM'S

Have you picked out a color yet? My 5hp Speedaire keeps on running but when it does die one of the brands I'll be looking hard at is Eaton. I would like to upgrade to a 10hp single phase compressor that should last my lifetime and have more than enough air for anything I may want to do.

Hunter Green, Lots of colors to choose from. Just ordered some feet from Grainger GRAINGER APPROVED VENDOR Vibration Isolator,310 Lb Max,3'/'8-16 - Cylindrical Vibration Isolators - 2NPG6'|'2NPG6 - Grainger Industrial Supply

Now that I have my Compressor on order I'm looking for a 3/4 filter regulator set up and a 3/4 Flex connecting hose, anyone know where to find these?

The quincey I looked at was rated at 73 db cause the RPMs was much lower on the pump..650. Sorry no quiet air tools when using them.

Murph, hard to beat a Quincy. There motto, "Buy a Quincy Air Compressor for life".

When my shop burned I bought an off brand compressor from the local farm supply store. Paid $500. They had a Quincy setting there for $1K. My cheap compressor is still running 4 years later. But it's in the bathroom of the shop behind closed door. Still aggravates me when it's running. High speed, very noisy. When it quits me I'll go for the Quincy. That's what I lost in the fire. I miss it a lot and shouldn't have gone cheap.

I bought from Polar air. The pump speed is 650 rpm so it should be quiet. 3 - 25 HP Air Compressors : Piston Air Compressors for Sale : EatonCompressor.com

I'm so far in the toolies I don't have any stores near me that handle that stuff. Like George, I'd order thru Graingers. For flex hose I used a custom made hydraulic hose. Yeah,,,, Redneck,,,,, but works.

Glad you found em Murph. Are you plumbing your shop as well?? Or is it already plumbed??

/ Air Compressor #34
Don't forget a hose reel. After plumbing my shop and adding a reel, I rarely use my 4 drop connections. Mine hangs in the middle of the shop with enough hose to reach out all 3 doors and all 4 corners of the shop. I use it constantly. Also, add drain cocks at each of your drops to drain moisture if it becomes a problem. So far I've not had a moisture problem at all. My shop is a fairly constant temperature which helps.

I hope this is received well by the thread members. I just listed a Quincy 325 compressor only on CL- Detroit. I purchased it in a utility auction and had great plans for a great compressor. But it got complicated. It's rated to use a 3-5 hp motor with 600-900 rpm; and will max out at 19 cfm @ 175psi. The problem was that the max pressure is 500 psi intermittent. So I went looking for a pressure tank rated at 500 psi. Hard/ expensive to find, and I think you'd want a pressure relief valve rated at 20 cfm in case the contactor got stuck on. Then a friend gave me a upright 60 gal 6 cfm complete and there it sits. It's listed for $350 and to anyone here it's $300 or bo and I'll through in the motor pulley I bought (double belt) sized for a 3500 rpm motor and max compressor speed. The note says it needs a new 3/4 street 90 fitting. Bringing it home, it flipped over in my Explorer and tore the door panel and cracked the fitting.
This is a 2 stage pressurized oil pump, 19 . and at it's current use, will last forever. LOL
I thought someone here might give it a useful home and take advantage of the bargin. Althought it's a project.

Got a call today from Eaton and they will credit me 100.00 for the shipping snafu. Tomorrow is D-day a 9 to 1:00 window? 4 friggen hours I'm stuck waiting for a Truck... How can they not schedule with in a few hours is beyond me.

/ Air Compressor #40
The trucking company should actually call you with an estimated delivery time. That may happen tomorrow. I'm assuming you haven't been told the truck line name?? I've had several items truck delivered over the years, and they've always called me day of delivery to make sure I'm there. They don't wanna wait anymore than you do.

I'm all giddy about this Murph and anxious to see the project completed. :)
