From my expierience. I grew up around Jeeps('42 Ford and '70 CJ5), as well as having friends with them. Also have air tools :D I have torn Jeeps apart to small components and built them back up. That is in addition to race cars, cars, trucks etc.

doing the same thing - with 86CJ7 - but so far only hand tools.

Thanks for the info - everybody who pitched in.

I got a Coleman set from Costco last Friday and used it to drop skid plate and Dana 300 on my Jeep - the output seal on 5 speed transmission is leaking.

Whatever they say about not being able to teach an old dog new tricks - they are right since it takes some thinking to use an impact wrench instead of my trusty hand ratchet. But it is much faster and easier - and looking back I should have used air for ball joints, brake jobs, springs and shackles - you name it.

I had to first fix the compressor - regulating valve was leaking big time, not fixeable cheap chinese product and I had to create homemade manifold from 1/4" NPT pieces to use it.

My compressor is small 5? gallon, but due to the nature of the work under the jeep it had no problem keeping up with me.
