I find it hard to keep my tanks topped off. I keep the tractor topped off but the 55 gal drum i use as storage has to be half full sooner or later for some times a month or 2. I think that a biocide and lubricity additive it my best bet. any Input??
I sure would...AND Id keep a spare fuel filter handy also...ya just MIGHT need it someday

Burried tanks would be the key. I don't have those, so the best I can do is keep limited bulk fuel on hand (or in a climate controlled building) and keep the tractor tank full.

if you got buried tanks, you end up being an EPA superfund site

You don't by chance sell Essentialube, do you?

Yes i do. Since the changes with diesel fuel essentialube has been one of the main products i have sold. It was actually the first product i myself used, which lead to me researching hydrotex and eventual employment with them.

Your correct, sulfer is a contaminate. When it is released into the air through combustion it is considered a contaminate to the air. In terms of diesel fuel, sulfer is an important lubricant. It is good for your engine but bad for the air, which is why diesel fuel is ultra low sulfer now. Everybody knows mother nature comes first, therefore your engine pays the price. There is tons of literature regarding the lubrication qualities of sulfer.

No -> sulfur is a contaminate of crude oil, which is why low sulfur sweet crude is so expensive, and super high sulfur sour crude is so cheap, no body wants it.

Sulfur is not a lubricant.

As SkyPup stated, Sulfur is NOT a lubricant. The reason current ULSD fuel's lubricity is lower is because in the refining process that strips the sulfur from the fuel it also removes other elements that are attached to the sulfur molecules.

In fact, Gasoline has the same concentration of sulfur as does Diesel fuel, yet no one is commending the fine lubrication qualities of petrol due to the sulfur content are they????

I guess we can argue about this all day. You may want to check these sites out though. If people dont want to believe that sulfur is important to the lubricity of diesel fuel, particularly in diesel engines produced before 2007, then they dont have to. The process of reducing the ppm of sulfer in diesel reduces the lubricity of the fuel which means more wear on the engine. I'm not going to waste my time arguing about it, i guess some people are set in their beliefs and cant be told otherwise. If the sulfer wasnt important everybody wouldnt be making a big deal about the transition to ULSD.

Sulfur is not important to the lubricity of diesel fuel or gasoline.

In fact, now that it is gone, you can forget all about it and worry no more, except remember that it stinks real bad.....
