Dealer Am I expecting too much from my dealer?

Most dealers try and resolve matters in-house. They are independent. Unless, they are part of a group.

A car dealer isn't going to call around to OTHER dealers for some accessory.

And then there is always the matter of what pricing you offer another dealer (sometimes competitor). Some simply offer retail pricing. Hey, you want it or don't you? So now what? Do you mark that up and sell it to your customer?

The CC company has to get your 2% from somewhere and take a percentage for themselves. There are many CC transaction companies all with differing "discount rates" and differing terms for the business. 5% is one of the really high ones, but it is that high because of your 2% rebate card. The CC transaction company I am familiar with charges a different discount rate on every card. We don't know what the cut will be until the end of month statement.

These are good posts.

I will add, what appears simple, from a buyer痴 perspective, is often not and it痴 the salesperson痴 job to shield you from those challenges and keep things simple.

It sounds like he's doing the best that he can. If you want it sooner you could have gone to the other dealer and picked it up yourself. He still has to pay his help whether they are driving or working, and the current rate is .58 $/mile. That cost would then be passed on to you.

The advice about test driving it is a good idea, and not just around the parking lot like I did. (With chains on, I was glad to get off it.)

It wasn't until I accepted delivery that I thought of several questions to ask; mine was slightly used so I should have asked about previous service, as well as what if anything they do to check out a trade before putting it back on the lot. I wrote the salesman an email with several questions; in answer they sent me a $50 gift card which can only be redeemed in person... I'm 200 miles away.

I had to have mine ordered, still waiting on a few parts for the install of 3rd function and one of the attachments. Had to go visit it the other day. It's exactly what I want and it's not as if they are just sitting around. Having patience is killing me, but we aren't buying a silver Honda Accord either. I gather it's fairly normal as tractors are reasonably specialized with all the specific differences we each have for their use.

I didn't take a pic but the HLA RRG66 grapple I got looks like it could pick up an Accord. I can't wait to get seat time on it, will have it for many years I expect.

Almost went with a Kioti, dealer just blew the sale, didnt show, never had anything in stock etc, also had bad reviews from others. Ended up next door at Kubota, another reason I went Kubota, parts on anything was pretty much a day or two.

Nobody had the small utility models I was interested in on the lot. I’m very tall so ergos are a big issue. One of the factors that tipped my choice was the dealer who found a used customer model in the same series for me to check out. Of the three dealers, he was the one that was most interested in my business. That stuff is important to me.

Well, it was supposed to be delivery day. The tractor was dropped off at the tire shop yesterday afternoon to get the rears filled.

Then get a call this morning from the salesman that I've been working with (lives just down the road so also the delivery person) that his wife's incision opened up so they are waiting on a call from their Dr to see what they need to do regarding that. He asked if he could push back delivery until tomorrow so he wasn't running around everywhere. I told him I was more than happy to wait an extra day so he could do what he needed to get his wife taken care of. I've always been 'family first', so for sure wasn't going to say 'no, you MUST deliver my tractor today' tell your wife tough she can sit there with an open wound or have someone else drive her around.

I mean after 3 weeks or so, what's an extra day going to matter?

Any updates on your end OP?

Im impressed that he took the time to call and let you know. Definitely the type I prefer to do business with, just pick up the phone and let me know whats going on, no problem. I get extremely POd when I go somewhere and get the “sorry bout that” and am not afraid to cancel a deal/order when that happens.

The Salesman has been extremely on top of his game. He hasn't hesitated to call to let me know of the computer issues Kioti has had, shipment delay, possible dealer transfers, etc. Heck, I've received more phone calls from him than I've received from my wife probably, lol.

Good for you, and him.

Had a similar situation with my dealer, surgery for wife and here that meant on Oahu. Told him not a problem, family first and nothing I had planned for tractor was more important than his family.

Depending on the third function kit, it may not come with horses or connections out front. My dealer put flat face connectors on the 3rd function and the grapple. I tried them, but did not like them at all. I changed them out. If you purchase the kit from someone else, you may be asked to be for parts not included.
