Had that happen to a party of 6 that were flying to California for a wedding... Wedding was to be in Yosemite the next day and they flew in from Germany... thankfully, they flew a German airline!

Talk about aggravation... some did make it and some was on the porch for about a week while the group was traveling...

After that... I always carry essentials carry on....

Missing Luggage Ending....

The airline texted us about a bit after 7:00pm, which is when they said the lost luggage would be on the road, and told us they would be at our house at 8:30. A second text said 9:30. A bit later the driver called and said 8:30. At 8:30, on the dot, the driver was at the door. Sure can't complain about that service.

Course, the luggage should not have been left behind in the first place.

What was interesting was when I was at the lost luggage office, there were maybe 15-20 pieces sitting there. The office was locked and reopened just as we walked up. I don't know if those 15-20 pieces were lost that morning, the last hour, last 24 hours, etc. As we waited and waited for our luggage to show up on the conveyor there were at least six pieces of luggage going around and around and around. Did people FORGET to pick up their luggage or was this stuff that was offloaded from the plane that should not have been... :confused3: One was a soldier's duffel bag and another was a child car seat. :( Hard to believe those would have been left behind by mistake.

First time we have had lost luggage and it certainly was not that bad. Maybe this means we will never have lost luggage again.:laughing::laughing:

We had that once. We had gotten bumped and re-routed. Apparently, our checked bags stayed on the original plane and they beat us to our destination.

I don't think it could get much worse than my present FEDEX package. Monday it was picked up in Wilmar, MN. and today (Saturday) @ 4:46AM it left St. Paul, MN. for places unknown. 6 Days and it is still in state of origin. I will be lucky to get it in 10-14 days at this rate.
Update: The package left Saint Paul enroute to Champaign, IL. today. Still a long way from Bismarck, Ar.

Ah, that makes sense. I did not think of someone's luggage arriving before the people.

What is sorta ironic is that we had to PAY to check the luggage since the family member is not tall enough to use the overhead storage bins. When the wifey and I travel we try to travel "light" so we can avoid checking baggage. "Light" is a relative term since the bags meet the size standard but weight is a different issue.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

A coworkers kid got some very cheap tickets to go to Iceland in December.:D:D:D The kid and friends, being college students and short of money, did not want to spend money to check bags so they wore multiple layers of clothes to minimize what when in their luggage.:laughing::laughing: I have this picture of them looking all puffed up like the Michelin Man or Ralphy's brother Randy going to school. :D:D:D

I ordered an HVAC part from Amazon that shipped from Celina, TX on 12/28 on USPS. It went from there to Dallas on 12/29 then to San Jose, CA!! on 1/1 on the way to western NY.
You don't have to be much of a geography expert to figure out that is 1000 miles in the wrong direction!!
The package saga continues!! That package left San Jose on 1/3. It will be interesting to see where (if) it shows up next!

Our usps package that showed out for delivery yesterday now now shows a delivery exception, as I expected it would.

We have had a bunch of packages sent by Amazon... most Prime but not all with zero issues (as scheduled) before or after Christmas. Guess we are lucky around here.

Posted this in Good Morning also, but USPS struck again.

Amazon says package delivered last Sat. I went on Amazon today to check because it wasn't delivered. USPS says they did.

This is getting old...

The only one I have a problem with is that stupid Fedex Smartpost. Anything that I have had shipped that way will arrive eventually, but it usually takes at least a week to get here.
I have an item that my wife ordered through a local store that has been bouncing around since last week. It went from Ct. to Ohio to another location in Ohio to Pa. to another location in Pa. so far and Fedex still has it. If they had just mailed it, it would have arrived two days ago.

I forgot to call them. They claimed something was delivered and it never was. I reported it online and they said I had to call. I needed it and ordered another but forgot to call and get credit. It was USPS

Never had UPS or Fedex hand it off. Is this common in certain locales?

They both do in my area.

Fedex Smartpost and UPS Surepost advertise nationwide service. I suspect the difference is where the item is shipping from and whether the shipper thinks that cost is more important than customer satisfaction.

We're fighting with the USPS to get any service at our place, at all, right now. After talking to the postmaster at both our local post office and the one that our contract carrier is contracted through, we've gotten nowhere. First they told us to put a box on the street and we'll get mail, we did, we haven't. Then it was well maybe they'll deliver, maybe they won't, we don't really have control over the carrier. Then it was you might need to put it at the highway but, we don't know for sure.

Yesterday I ordered something from an Amazon seller and this morning I see tracking for USPS. I contacted them to tell them it won't get here that way, can they please switch to UPS or FedEx. Their reply was free shipping orders go USPS, period. Not an offer to change to another carrier at an additional fee, just that's how it is, deal with it. I told them to cancel the order then, I'm not standing in line at the post office to pick up a package that may not ever even end up there, it defeats the whole purpose of ordering it from Amazon. If I need to go somewhere, I might as well just go to the Welding Supply shop the next town over and be done with it.

I bet they send it USPS anyway and then they'll have to deal with the return and be out the postage. Oh well.

By the way, not all Amazon Prime is 2 day anymore. They've made some changes to the program that I personally think suck. Amazon Prime No Longer Pledges Free 2-Day Shipping on All Items | Money Talks News
