Amsoil HD 5W40?

Wow that’s expensive. T6 is usually on sale for under $20 and then rebates get it down under $15 around here. I can’t imagine paying $30 - $50 a gallon.

I personally use the 15W-40 in mine. It costs a little less and I don't plan on using my tractor when it is cold enough to need 5. Haven't come across a piece of equipment yet that hasn't performed better with AMSOIL.
If you aren't already assigned to another dealer and you want to try a case or more at wholesale pricing I will set you up as a preferred customer for free. Just send me a PM. I'll extend this offer to up to 5 TBN members per month.

I'm an oil-a-holic. Years ago I fought going with Amsoil for all the reasons people speak of so I tried EVERY and I do mean EVERY oil out there at the time including some from Europe. Then I did Amsoil and was stunned with how it made my equipment work. Much quieter much smoother.
Still not being cured I again tried some "new oil" because the hords of people saying how good it is. So I broke ranks and put some Rotella in my Kubota and IMMEDIATELY my tractor was louder and not as smooth. That was a week or so ago, the minute I get some spare time I'm yanking that stuff out and going back to Amsoil and NEVER EVER will I try another oil. I'm cured.

Everyone keeps talking about "price" of the oil and I don't get it. Does anyone realize that they equipment they are protecting is worth a whole lot more than the price of the oil they are using.

My last oil change was in a 60 KW generator that took five gallons of oil and she purred like a kitten when I was done.

Cat, I do shop price, but only within a quality range I am comfortable with. I get T6 due to the availability, the weight rating, and price. I'm not familiar with any friend or family member, or even anyone on this site, that has had an engine failure due to oil brand. I would say changing oil (or lack of) is the biggest factor related to engine failure.
I noticed quieter engines when I switched to T6, so there's no doubt going to another level of synthetic would provide even quieter performance like you are noticing. But still, I think modern oils are more than enough to keep an engine running longer than the electronics that support it on these tractors.

Although I have yet to go the T6 route. After many years of using Rotella T4, it was only a year ago, I switched from T4 to T5 Rotella diesel engine oil. I personally have no compelling reason to switch to T6.
After all, I never had a problem using T4. :confused3:

Maybe the best oil money can buy. I use it too.

If I could buy Amsoil synthetic HD oil for diesels for less than Rotella T6 synthetic I'd buy out the store. Around here Rotella T6 on sale is around $20 a gallon where Amsoil runs between $9-11 a quart or $36-44 a gallon. Even the link you provide shows it at $33.60 a gallon which is way higher than Rotella.
I've never used it but a friend swears by it and uses it in all his vehicles. I just can't justify the cost difference between Amsoil and other synthetics.

You pay more for Rotella. Amsoil high TBN oil and matching synthetic filter is absolutely good to go for 25,000 miles. How many oil/filter changes with a random junk filter and Rotella do you do in 25,000 miles?

How much time do you spend going to buy it, changing it and going to dispose of it in 25,000 miles?

I have been using Amsoil since the lastest 80"s. And honestly, when I look at the math.... I can't afford the oil you other guys run. Way to expensive and labor intense for me to use pull that needs changed 4 to 5 times for every one oil change I do on my 7 cars/trucks. You so must be rich and have excess spare time. I'm not in that boat

I guess I'll have read up on Amsoils site to see their test proving lab tests. Must be really good to go 25,000 miles between changes. Since I don't drive a lot of miles and you are correct I could get 5-6 years between changes.

Amsoil is good stuff. I used to use it but price and availability drove me to Rotella T6
