My college roommate had a 1966 Dodge Valiant with the Slant 6 engine, he never once changed the oil or the filter - ever, just keep adding the cheapest re-refined used oil he could find at Pic-N'-Save (WalMart was not around then). By the time he was ready to graduate, his Dodge was burning a quart of no-name brand cheap oil every 400 miles. He didn't care, just kept pouring it in.

He didn't do that well in school, only became an attorney, and kept driving his Valiant until the engine blew at 180,000 miles and left him stranded out in the boondocks for a couple of days.

He saved lots on oil and oil filter changes though and didn't mind all the thick black smoke pouring out of the tailpipe 24-7.

Comments like this kill your credibility.

***I have nothing to prove at this site but again, people shop there since price is the #1 thing, not quality. They have a small section of this and that but half the store of no-name junk clothes...that might last 6-months.

You've just judged over a billion people with that comment... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

******I just call them as I see them.

"Boy... judging and talking down to quite a few folks here. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'm one of those wallmart super store shoppers.. so.. I guess you've just insulted me..( and others ) instead of really trying to calmly discuss the oil..."

****I am not personally attacking anyone, Again I just see what people shop there when I used to go there. You not find people buying real quality items there. Why do you think Plasma, DLP, high end sony, Denon etc are not there??? Because most people see the price of that, then a "no-name" for 60% less. Same with sneakers. Most people there would not by Mizuno, Nike, when they are cheap $10 ones.

Um... cause the JD is over priced /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

"I have a muray lawn mower.. why? It was inexpensive, and I have very little lawn to mow... why buy a 3000$ lawn mower when a 700$ one will do it. As for the quality of the product.. Mines been doing good for 9 years now.. pretty good for a 'cheap' lawnmower. same with my push mower.. I got it at pic-n-save.. it's over 11 years old.. starts first pull every time... great for an 89$ lawnmower huh? ( by the way.. my neighbor has burned up 2 jd lawnmowers mowing 3 ac of lawn for the last 3 years.. he's on his 3rd. one.. other neighbor trades out time between a huskie from tsc, a jd, and a cub cadet.. all 2000$+ lawnmowers... he's also got about 2-3 ac to mow....)"

***You pull to start a lawn mower /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"I didn't say a dino oil would be better at 3k than a synthetic.. I said it would still be sufficiently protecting the engine."

***If you want to perform the minimum protection, then fine. But I personally did not spend my $$$ for the min to get by.

"By the way.. with 3.5k changes.. like I said in my previous message.. I calculate that to be 44$ I'll pay the extra 4 bucks and have that filer changed 4.28 times vs your 2 times and feel better about it. As for the time.. lets face it.. I own a 'fleet' of tractors... driving a vehicle onto a rampstand and sliding a pan under it and refilling oil is a 10 minute job.. tops.."

If you buy quality filters they will last longer then the cheap ones. Again, while you are draining I will be doing something a little nicer then messing with used motor cycle, filters, etc. Put some 3.5K dino oil tets onine? Lets see some results after this interval?Again, i have better things to do then mess with these things.

"Wow.. you do have a great way of putting people down! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

****Again, you get what you pay for.

All the oil issues aside.. I'm amazed at your general lack of respect to your fellow man... I guess.. even if I felt like that.. I might keep it to myself.. out of embarrisment of how I feel and treet my fellow man..... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you are lucky you get what you pay for, however if you just buy things because they cost more...........
