An easier way to refuel your tractor

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^One of the reasons that turn me off from that is only 4 AA battery's, I would trust 4 D's a lot more.

Agree, or a pump using a few 18650 batteries. 4 AA's however have surprised me so far. Just filled the tractor an hour ago and timed it, it's pumping exactly 2.5 US gallons per minute and empties the vent-less diesel can in two minutes which is less time than using the spout. I've so far emptied about a dozen 20-25 litre fuel cans on the original batteries.

I don't use enough diesel with the tractor and Isuzu 12.5 kw generator to warrant delivery. So, I just make a run a couple times/yr with 4 or 5 containers in the back of my trusty Tacoma to a diesel station to refill them to put into the 60 gallon generator tank and to replenish the tractor's tank when needed. I've sometimes pumped diesel out of the generator's tank and used it in the tractor (into a 5 gallon container). I move the full containers from the Tacoma to the tractor garage with the FEL.

To refuel the tractor, I just lift the 5 gallon container and place it atop the brake pedals and then step up onto the tractor and then lift it onto the hood. Then I use one of those hand squeeze siphons to get flow started into the tractor's tank. Do this once on the container. To finish it, it's then light enough to go up all the way so that I can just pour directly from the 5 gallon spigot right into the tank. Record in my book to later compute the gph. I keep another book for the Isuzu. The Isuzu is a little gem: 0.2 gph.

That is impressive, 5 gal in 2 minutes and yes 4 18650 batteries would be lot better the AAs, and they are rechargeable, good review on that pump.

Thanks guys. Cant believe I thought there was a difference in the off road vs. road diesel besides the dye and tax. Glad I asked.

looks real cool to me
seems like it would be harder to fill those tanks than the tractor:)

I set a ladder against the loft part and the guy from the Co-op goes right up it with his hose from the truck.

Ultimately I will get an elevated 250-500 gallon or so tank at my house. At the moment I'm using a shaker hose with 5 gallon fuel cans in the back of the truck or sitting on the front tire of my tractor. The fill on my tractor is low, by the step on the left side of the tractor. 25 gallon tank I think.

It might be a rural legend but I heard that law enforcement has been known to visit farm auctions and check the attendees' fuel filters in the parking area for red residue.

Most of the time they set up check points and sample the fuel from the trucks tank. Illinois is real good at setting up these check points. I hate driving through that state even being legal it’s just a aggravation.

I can understand that, everytime I see a cop behind me I go through a 100 point check list in my mine to try and think if what I'm doing wrong, fortunately red die in my gas powered Jeep isn't one of them

Fuel tank checkpoints work but only with that particular tank of fuel. Red residue on the fuel filter, otoh, incriminates if off-road diesel has EVER been in the tank. Some aftermarket filter manufacturer should sell red filters instead of white.
