Another addition to the family

After some complications we have been graced with a new filly, mother and daughter are doing well and should be home in a week.
Girls are over the moon and Fritz the german shepherd will have yet another equine friend.

I know they're stronger than they look but I always had my 'heart in my throat' when watching a new-born frolicking on those spindly legs.

This was a close call as the mare was a week overdue, the vet was considering a caesarian but put it off until the last possible moment as the mare dies after the op and the foals chances of survival are not good, the mare suddenly went into labour just after midnight Tuesday and at about 0200 we had a filly, everyone is happy.
The pic is the maternity ward at the vets home, she is really good and monitors all at her home every hour then goes off to the surgery at 0900 for a normal (??) days work.
