I have an 18 year old 30 horse kubota, a 6 year old 50 horse kubota, a 8 year old kubota rtv, a 4 year old 75 horse kubota compact tract loader and a 3 year old branson 78 horse tractor. If i had it to do over the last tractor would have been a kubota. Everything but one tractor and the RTV were bought from different dealers.

The kubota’s have been flawless and I do abuse them. My father has a kubota BX also and loves it.

i have no connection to kubota but do live in TN so I am partial to orange. Lol

I took some of this advice today as I had a day off. My nearest JD dealer had 18+/- new tractors on the lot. The fuel tanks were all above the back wheels. I am 6'1" and it would be a pain to fill unless I get a big tank/drum and pump. Worse, no one from the dealership bothered to check with me. My business was apparently not worth their time.
My local Kubota dealer had maybe 10 total on the lot. Fuel tanks on top of hood. Could also be painful to fill. Sales guy was nice but was trying to push me to bigger class.
Bobcat dealer had zero units, said he could get whatever in want in 60 days. I am skeptical. Didn't get a great vibe.
Tym/LS/Zetor - owner came out to talk to me. He had maybe 16 various new units, but none that were in my preferred size...so we walked me over to the service staging area and pointed out features I may like. Definitely the best of today's dealers. I could see getting any of those brands if the deal was right.

I am glad you are finding tractors to look at and try. That is a good sign. I would find it hard to order a tractor without physically looking at it before buying or ordering. There are so many things that can be either liked or disliked, and some can be a deal breaker. Hope you had a good day.

I'm another to say buy brand name. I'd limit my search to JD Kub, and Yanmar. Many mfg's use parts from 3rd parties. Certainly JD uses Yanmar engines. But I was shocked to read that New Holland was selling under their name, and blue paint, a tractor MADE by Turk Tractor of Ankara, Turkey. Since when does Turkey have a reputation for making anything good ?
When I've purchased all 3 of my tractors, and the excavator (all which I still have), I identified the jobs I needed to do, the equipment I needed to do them, and bought used, low hours. The B3200 only had 39 hours thereon. The L2550, 30 years old, had 1100 hours. I think financing used tractors is difficult. Don't know that, but for sure, if you've buying used, and what you've found is "a find", you've got to have your money ready.
Where do you think John Deere is made where do you think Kubota is made and where do you think yanmar is made there's no tractor made in the United States anymore they are all foreign

I am a relatively new guy as well. After doing all the research I moved from JD to Kubota to New Holland to Kioti and finally ended purchasing a Bobcat 2025 Compact Tractor. These are made by the same people that make Kioti, but have slightly less lifting capacity then the Kioti, still far greater than the others at similar HP. They are also about the heaviest of the class. They were running a promotion (I think they still are) where they give you the FEL for free! The bottom line was that I was out the door with tractor, FEL, Box Blade, Pallet Forks, 3rd Function and rear 2 Hydraulic ports for about 20k with all the promotions they were running. You cannot touch a similar Kubota with FEL and not other implements for under 25k in my area at the time. The JD was closer to 30k. The Kioti was 3.5k more.

The downside of buying a Bobcat is that they do not have as much experience with tractors as their skid steers etc. In my case, my dealer went out of his way to make sure that I got what I needed. He even went to the LS dealer and picked up a Grapple I purchased for me and delivered for no extra charge. So far it has performed very well. No problems. Parts? Well these are Kioti's underneath, so if Bobcat does not have it, I can get the same part from Kioti.

As far as HP is concerned. For my needs (Mostly lifting logs and rocks and making and maintaining paths) 25 hp is enough. If you are doing lots PTO work, I would look carefully to make sure your tractor has enough power. (Again, the Kioti/Bobcat was at or near the top of the heap with PTO power)

I think two of them are made in Japan, and the ENGINES of third, JD, are made in Japan. Japan has a reputation for quality. Not so China, India, or TURKEY. I made no presentation for buying "Made in America". I do think it is unethical to sell, under an American name, a product made in an inferior manufacturing county, like Turkey. It's not made by an American owned plant in Turkey (such as in the case with maquiladora's in Mexico), it's made for New Holland purchase for resale to Americans.

I wish every one of those tractors and implements were made in the US. And there is no reason they can't. (other than taxes - I guess).

I think your mechanical skills will play into your choices. I purchased a Jinma 284 tractor from my brother at a great price. It was a 2006 and I've owned it for about 4 years. It only had 50 hours on it when I bought it, which is likely common for people like my brother that are not mechanically inclined and buy a Chinese tractor and leave it outside. Parts are readily available via China and two other dealers in the US, but there is no one within 1,000 miles that sells these things locally any more. That said, if you use it all the time and are capable of maintaining it yourself, you can likely find something like a Yanmar or Jinma for a fraction of the price of a Deere, Kubota, Massey or Holland that will do the job, and it may come with more attachments that someone wasted money on but used just a few times to see that it was too much work for them to switch between. If you're not mechanically inclined, you should stick to the brand(s) at your local dealer and consider expanding your search for a used one. It may be worth traveling up to 1,000 miles for a deal on a great tractor that costs $15-20K.

I replied to this earlier with my experience. If I offended you or anyone else for being thorough in my reply I apologize. I did not realize we are only suppose to reply the way other people other than the "Original Poster" may be wanting. I am shocked I had someone private message me and tell me my reply was too long and too much and not to do it in the future. Hoodoo, if I spoke out of turn or for too long I apologize and was only trying to offer my opinion and my experience.
No sir - no problems from me...I appreciate all of the advice and help form you guys. Don't care about spelling syntax or paragraphs ;)
