Another foot of snow today

We're at 154" that we have plowed. There has been 1/2 a dozen or more small storms we didn't plow, so they weren't written down.

Here's a link to a vid of my father standing next to the buried sugarhouse.

What do you suggest I do to get the use out of the supplied spell check box?

Beats me, John, I've never used the spell checker on Tractorbynet. I just now clicked on it and I get the same dialogue box to download "iespell" but I don't want to download anything else right now.

But other than power outages or surges, I'd sure have no idea what might be wrong with your computer. The UPS that I use has 6 electrical outlets; 3 are surge protection only while the other 3 are surge protection and backup power. I'm using all of them. The printer, my speakers, and my external CD/DVD burner are on surge protection only, while the computer, monitor, and modem are on the backup power.

Bird,

I'm picking up a UPS much like what you just described and hope it solves the problem, but got to thinking that we lose power around here enough that it would be nice to have anyway. I'm getting one with a 15 minute backup reserve, so if the power in the neighborhood goes down, I can at least save my work and shut down properly in that amount of time. It looks like I can pick up a UPS meeting that need for well under $100.00. Weather update: 34 degrees and sprinkling now. John

atgreene,

Nice video! Well, you know what I mean. I got similar pictures from a friend up in Presque Isle yesterday showing his wife next to the outside clothesline that you can just make out the top of through the snow. It sure seems like we've had our share for the year. I think Roger Griswald said today that we peaked 128 inches of snow in the Belgrade area so far with a season record being at 182 inches. I thought I'd heard the other day we had passed the 182, but was apparently mistaken. I'm o.k. with it slowing down now. Dyer, retired

Sure enough, it's snowing here now. But with everything already wet from the rain and a temperature of 35, I don't see any sign of any of it sticking yet.:) I just noticed that according to the National Weather Service, the Denton airport has only gotten about 1.56" of rain today, but my gauge showed about 2.72".

Oh, how fast things can change. The snow blocked our satellite TV signal an hour or so ago, but as I said, I didn't think the snow would be sticking. Wrong again. I just went and looked out front and my yard and trees are coated with snow and the neighbors next door are making a snowman.:)

Bird,

You sound like you're looking at a mess tomorrow, but probably have a pretty good chance of it melting off fast? They are predicting rain and temps in the 40's here tomorrow, but then an "Artic Clipper" bringing very cold air in behind it, so we've got some messy days coming. When we bought this house a number of years back, the ice storm of 1998 had come and gone. The trees in the surrounding property that blocks out all the neighbors houses from mine were in very good health. The bark has been steadily falling off many of the trees and the trees dying at a fair number. I inquired from a Rep. of the Maine Forrest Service and it turns out that the ice storm causes damage to the trees that is not unusual to see take 10 years or so to manifest itself....that's what is happening here now. Good news, 100 years from now, no one will know the difference, ha!

Cleared a lot of snow today with the BX to make room for whatever is coming and I've decided that it's a successful day when I haven't broken any shear pins, which I didn't. I guess you'll be overrun by Press for the next couple of days in Texas and I don't know who I'll end up voting for because I don't think any of them has a tractor? Dyer, retired

Too bad about that extra foot of snow there. Here on Grand Turk Island it was in the low 80's today. The scuba diving was pleasant. I am not sure what it was like back home in the UP of Michigan.:D

smfcpacfp,

Make sure not to get too sunburned, ha! Thanks for thinking of us in the meantime though. What happens with that Kubota of yours and all the snow that drops while you're in the bath water scuba diving? Does it wait, or do you let someone else have fun with the rig in the meantime? Enjoy the diving....a week or two in that kind of weather sure makes the winter seem a lot shorter when you come back to it. Dyer, retired

:D Well I am not sure we have had a "bad winter" as much as its been so long time since we had much of "any winter"??? I think it looks about the same here on the Aroostook County line as it did most winter thru the 60's and 70's ???? Anyway we got about 15" outta that last little whack of the old white stuff [just a dustin really] I have two yards to plow [plus all the "neighbors"] as I cant bear driving by and watchin my 79 year old next door shovel with a heart condition from eating toooo many Mrs Dunstins dougnuts! I have enclosed how we get all this snow moved the easy way ! If you have heard of the aftermarket adaptor, that will let you connect a JD or Kabota right up to a FISHER quick switch plow, we fabricate them ....
I have posted a few pics of a little 32 hp JD 3203 with a 7 1/2' Fisher it makes short work of 2 ft of snow and leaves the boys in pickups shaking there head when they see it pushed 10' up into the air
